The Practice
Chapel House Vets is situated in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, a pleasant market town on the edge of the Peak District, it’s an excellent area for any outdoor hobbies, and a great place to explore. Our clients are generally a pleasant talkative bunch and nice to work with.

We have a great friendly team of 12 RVN’s and 8 vets, who have a wide variety of experience that they are happy to share if needed to develop surgical and medical skills. The team have 2 certificate holders, in Dermatology and Exotics.

Our practice premises are a converted Methodist Chapel, which makes it an interesting building to work in.

We have all the usual diagnostic aids, a digital x-ray machine, in house Idexx laboratory, ultrasound scanner, tonometer, rigid endoscopes and ECG equipment and digital otoscope, etc.

The upstairs at the Chapel has a large staff room with kitchen and lounge, used for lunch breaks and in- house CPD. Our team is a close-knit group who regularly socialise together. We have practice nights out, generally sponsored by one of the drug reps, and an Xmas party funded by the practice, which makes the working environment both professional and fun.

We hold GP status with the RCVS PSS scheme. We also have a branch surgery in Staveley, previously a doctor’s surgery and it opened in 2014 due to continued business growth and has undergone extensive renovations to provide a clean modern working environment, also fully equipped to be able to work up cases as needed.

Location
We are just to the west of the M1 corridor, below Sheffield. Chesterfield is an old market town, famous for its crooked spire on the town church. There are many local amenities, cinema, theatre, gyms, many great pubs and of course the fabulous countryside. Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, and Bolsover castle are all local and there is easy rail and road access to the city lights of Sheffield, Nottingham, Derby and with frequent direct train links to London

The Role
Preferably a full-time position, but part time considered.
We are a busy small animal practice have a high caseload of both medical and surgical cases. The candidate will have full clinical freedom and work cases up to a high standard. We have an experienced vet team (86 years between them) who can support and guide for the newly qualified vet but this role also allows for autonomy for the experienced practitioner. We would also welcome candidates with a surgical bias in orthopaedics to provide in house solutions to the most complex of cases. We have 12 fantastic RVN’s who are competent, happy, friendly and supportive. The hours are approx. 39 hours per week over 4.5 days with 1:6 full weekends (Sat 9am till 3pm, Sun 10am till 12pm) and 1:6 Sat mornings (9am till 1pm). Our out of hours cover is provided by Vets Now but we have the facilities to look after our inpatients if required.

Successful Candidate
Ideally the candidate will have some experience in both medical and surgical caseloads, as we share the weekend rota so some sole charge is required. The candidate must have excellent communication skills and be able to provide our clients with great customer service and develop customer relationships. The candidate will demonstrate a commitment to high standards and continuously seeking improvement in their own work and takes pride in achieving results

We want a team player who works productively and co-operatively within the team, who shares information and common goals for best practice for our patients, and who can adapt to change as new approaches and technologies change.
