Ever thought about charity work? Or living in beautiful Bristol? We are looking for 2 new RVN’s – 1 Full-time permanent position and 1 Part-time maternity cover fixed for 9 months (possibility of becoming permanent)

The practice is part of the RSPCA Bristol branch and we work closely with our adjoining RSPCA animal centre.
Purpose built 100% small animal charity practice (RCVS General Practice accredited) with great facilities and a good range of equipment (X-rays, ultrasound, endoscopy, ECG, lab).
Working hours: 39 hours per week. Minimal OOH with 1:5 rota of weekend days and only occasional nights as we have dedicated night staff.
The veterinary team forms part of our RSPCA animal centre, which provides a uniquely interesting and variable caseload:
- Subsidised service for low-income clients
- Injured/ill strays
- Shelter medicine for onsite rehoming centre
- Wildlife triage
- Welfare casework for the RSPCA Inspectorate
We are looking for 2 qualified registered nurses to join our friendly team for a full-time permanent position and a part-time maternity cover.
We operate Monday - Friday for owned animals and strays and run a busy kennels ward. Weekends are emergencies only. Nurses work in reception, prep, theatre, and kennels (the kennels role being to supervise nursing assistants and organise arrival/discharge/treatment of inpatients). You will make full use of your nursing skills; we do bloods, x-rays, fluid therapy, lab work, anaesthesia, nurse appointments, as well as triage and intensive care.
Our team consists of RVNs, SVNs, reception staff, nursing assistants and vets. As a charity we are non profit making and absolutely dedicated to animal welfare. Patients and clients receive an excellent standard of care from our teams. You will also liaise with staff from our homing centre as well as local inspectors and other RSPCA branches.
We offer an excellent work life balance as we work sociable hours with no late finishes. The usual working day ends at 5pm with 1 week of 6pm finishes every 5 weeks and also 4pm finishes and half days.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced nurse with good clinical skills. We are looking for a RVN who uses their initiative and wants to be part of a friendly hard working team.
- Salary range (basic) £20,884 – 24,862 per annum/pro rata, dependent upon experience
- OOH allowances for weekends and nights increase remuneration by approx. £3,000 for a 1:5 rota
- Holiday 20 days pro rata for P/T role (increasing by one day per year up to 27 days) + paid BHs
- 3 days CPD (pro rata for P/T role)
- £400 CPD allowance (pro rata for P/T role)
- Paid RCVS/VDS cover
