We are a friendly, cheerful and passionate team, with low staff turnover. We all enjoy working to a high welfare standard and feeling that we are working for the benefit of the patient first and foremost.
The practice is part of the RSPCA Bristol branch and we work closely with our adjoining RSPCA animal centre.

Bristol - close to the beautiful West Country, good motorway links and the most desirable place to live in Britain (Sunday Times 2017)!
The Role
Due to an ‘epidemic’ of pregnancy we have 2 roles to fill. Presently these are a 4.5 day /week position and a 3 day/week position…but we are open to other combinations.
Working hours: Mon-Fri 8am-5pm (no evening surgeries) + 1:5 quiet on-call makes for a very pleasant work life balance.
The veterinary team forms part of an RSPCA animal centre, which provides a uniquely interesting and variable caseload:

- Injured/ill strays
- Shelter medicine for onsite rehoming centre

- Welfare casework for the RSPCA Inspectorate

(e.g. GDV, diaphragmatic hernia, splenectomy, multiple RTA injuries, urinary obstructions etc.) as well as having good all round medical knowledge.
We are looking for candidates who remain calm under the everyday pressures of veterinary practice and are always approachable to their colleagues.
The nature of our work involves a lot of pragmatic decision making and the ability to take a logical approach to clinical conditions.
Above all, we need vets with a friendly, confident disposition and an ability to get along with the rest of the team.

Company
Bristol A.R.C. has been caring for the city’s pets and wildlife since 1887, helping, healing and homing over 14,000 vulnerable animals each year. We are the longest-standing and largest local animal charity, and although we are proud to be affiliated with the RSPCA, we receive no automatic funding from it. We rely entirely on local support within the community to fund our vital work.
