Temporary Veterinary Surgeon required for a year fixed term contract in Glasgow, Lanarkshire and Dunbartonshire and west Scotland animal rescue and rehoming centres.

The Scottish SPCA, Scotland’s animal welfare charity, is seeking to recruit a qualified veterinary surgeon to work at its Glasgow, Lanarkshire and Dunbartonshire & West Scotland Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centres on a 1 year fixed term contract.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the 2013 Scottish Charity of the Year and make a real difference to the lives of the thousands of abused, abandoned and injured animals rescued by the Scottish SPCA each year.

The successful applicant will be keen to work in the emerging area of shelter medicine and have a proven track record in small animal surgery.

Reporting to the Chief Veterinary Officer, you will be responsible for treating animals brought into the Society’s Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centres, and will assist the Managers and staff of the Centres to fulfil their duties. You will require excellent communication and customer care skills. The position will be CPD supported.

Hours of work are 37.5 hours per week, working 10 days out of 14 to include weekends. On call duties are shared between the Vet team.

Please note that this position will require you to undertake a Standard Disclosure Scotland check.
