Job Details

Bilton Veterinary Centre is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced veterinary surgeon to replace one of our vets who is leaving us to further her career with a residency in a referral centre.

She told us: “I am incredibly sad to leave as it is a wonderful practice with a great team of vets and nurses. Bilton is one of the best environments I have worked in during my 10 year career.”

We are a six vet, single site SA practice which offers ample opportunities for case discussions within our experienced vet team, whilst maintaining individual case continuity.

Our current vets have particular interests in orthopaedics, soft-tissue surgery, ophthalmology, ultrasound, cardiology and acupuncture.

Our equipment includes:

  • Digital AGFA Radiography
  • New IMS Digital Dental Radiography
  • ESOATE MyLab Ultrasound with Cardiac probes and full colour Doppler
  • Tonopen Ocular Tonometry
  • IDEXX Catalyst Biochemisty and Procyte Haematology (coming soon)
  • ECG machine
  • Four Humphrey ADE Anaesthetic Circuits
  • Gima Electrosurgical Unit

The shared on-call rota is limited to 7pm-10pm on week-nights only, whilst in-patients can be hospitalised on-site to avoid unnecessary transportation.

We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience (above the SPVS average), along with a generous CPD budget and funding is available for certificates.

Work-life balance is important for all of us, and this is reflected in our rota allowing two short days a week. We maintain a friendly work atmosphere with an active social life too.

Company

The Bilton Veterinary Centre has been at the present location for over 50 years.  For many years it was known by its former name of “Furber and Lloyd-Griffiths” and became The Bilton Veterinary Centre after the retirement of Mr Frank Lloyd Griffiths in 2001.

The current directors are Mrs Claire Gardner and Miss Rose Bolan who took over the reins when Mark Furber returned in 2005.

Up until 2009 we were a mixed practice involved with all aspects of pets, farm animals and horses but once senior farm vet Mr Hipkins retired we have decided to concentrate on providing a first class ”small animal” service.

We currently have 5 full time veterinary surgeons and 7 fully qualified veterinary nurses.
