RSPCA LONDON – VETERINARY DIRECTOR

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the RSPCA’s veterinary provision across London.

Harmsworth and Putney animal hospitals and their 2 satellite clinics provide services to animals most in need, from the RSPCA Inspectorate, animal centres and welfare assistance for publicly owned animals as appropriate.

You will ensure veterinary care meets the needs of the stakeholders across the region and provides best value. You will also provide support to other RSPCA vets in the south region, liaison with external stakeholders, and contribute to the society’s national veterinary strategy.

You will be able to evidence extensive veterinary and management experience and a strong focus on animal welfare.

Company

The Putney Animal Hospital provides veterinary services primarily for the use of our Inspectorate and for sick and injured unowned animals.

Every year a large number of needy animals are admitted, mostly cats and dogs, but can include rabbits, birds, reptiles and amphibians, as well as wildlife casualties such as foxes, water birds, raptors and snakes. Most of these animals are brought to the hospital by our RSPCA inspectors and animal collection officers.

We provide veterinary care for these animals from repairing fractures and treating wounds to blood tests and vaccinations, ensuring they are in good health to be rehomed through our network of animal centres. Please note we do not rehome directly from the hospitals.

In addition we provide a limited, reduced cost, subsidised service for clients who meet certain requirements.
