Lead the next generation of Surgeons at Vets Now Sutton

Our Senior Vets are leaders. They nurture and support emerging talent and help shape the careers of future generations. Coupled with a diverse range of cases, a Senior Vet will lead from the front in achieving high quality patient care, excellent client care and encourage a team work mentality.

Provide emergency care at a time when it’s needed most

We recognise a work-life balance is of the upmost importance and this opportunity provides great scope for clinical excellence, career development and substantial periods of rest. As an out of hours provider, the rota pattern will involve weekends, a mix of weekday nights and a fair share of bank holidays.

Together we save pets’ lives

Sutton is a growing, state of the art clinic with brand new equipment. On shift, you will be supported by a strong nursing team, Animal Care Assistants and Receptionists. The wider network of emergency clinics and specialty hospitals work in collaboration to ensure that we can offer the best Emergency and Critical Care in the country. Whether it’s sharing best practice or seeking advice on a particularly complex case, you will never be on your own at Vets Now.

Great place to work

Recognising hard work is really important to us. Our employees are our greatest asset which is why we offer a first class benefits and rewards package that could include the following:

  • comprehensive CPD allowance
  • 6.6 weeks annual leave
  • private medical insurance
  • pension contributions
  • professional membership
  • free holiday accommodation in Arran
  • 50% discounted staff pet care
  • death in service of two times annual salary
  • membership of employee wellbeing programme
  • company sick pay scheme
  • company maternity, paternity and adoption pay scheme
  • your birthday as a day off

Celebrating success

As well as providing a competitive package of rewards and benefits, we also take pride in celebrating our successes. This includes hosting an annual awards ceremony for those who have exceeded expectations. Clinical staff are also encouraged to attend our annual ECC Congress, the largest in the UK, which features an array of internationally accredited speakers, delegates and exhibitors.

On-going personal development

Vets Now are committed to investing in the career progression of our people and we expect our Senior Vets to be ambitious in their own journey too. We will support all employees in pursuing a particular interest of choice and offer exceptional mentoring programmes. We make a real impact on the wider profession by driving clinical research and, by joining the Vets Now family, you will be at the forefront of clinical excellence.

Enhanced induction

At Vets Now, we are passionate about training and the on-going development of our employees. If this vacancy is of interest and you feel you would benefit from an enhanced induction to our business, then AdvantEdge may be perfect for you. This is a two week programme for experienced, talented Vets that will fast track them into a successful emergency role.

This role would suit an experienced Veterinary Surgeon looking to take their first steps into management due to the dedicated support available. Please contact Anne in our Talent team to discuss further.

Company

Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from 55 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and three 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 100,000 small animals every year — and during seasonal holidays, like Christmas and Easter, our highly-skilled staff answer around five queries an hour from worried pet owners. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.

We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our three hospitals — in Glasgow, Manchester and Swindon — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
