Hospital & Local Practice Vet - Derby

The Shelton Lock Practice is designed to provide a complete veterinary service to our clients.  With two consulting rooms, a prep room and theatre, lab, x ray and ultrasound, the majority of conditions can be managed by you onsite, allowing case continuity for you, and, convenience for the client.  You will be supported by Client Care and Nursing teams in the friendly family atmosphere of this local Practice.

Nottingham Vet School clinicians and a small group of students are also based at the practice with teaching largely involving the Blue Cross charity clinic, which is also run from this site.  You have the opportunity to be involved in this teaching, which can provide a very rewarding variety to your role.

Working together as a bonded team we visualise you all becoming an integral part of the local community, trusted to provide the absolute best care and advice available.

As we are privately owned we retain a family feel to our sites and we very much want you to be part of our family.

You will enjoy interacting with clients during morning and afternoon consults and building up a list of regular patients.  You will spend the later morning and early afternoon carrying out diagnostic procedures and operations. While most consulting room teaching is carried out by the Nottingham University Team, you will have the opportunity to train students in practical skills, such as placement of iv cannulas and routine neutering.

Currently the role is split so that half the week is spent at Shelton Lock and the other half working with our hospital team at the Pride Veterinary Centre.  There is however, the possibility to spend the entire week at Shelton Lock for an interested applicant.
