Veterinary Surgeon - Kent/Sussex Border

The Practice
We’re a long-established independent small animal practice run by two working vets, Tom Doyle and Duncan Mitchell. Our committed and friendly team is a good mixture of experience and youth, and within the practice we have special interests in ophthalmology, surgery, medicine and ultrasonography. We have three sites: our hospital in the prosperous town of Tunbridge Wells, a semi-independent surgery in Crowborough and a busy village surgery in Wadhurst. All three of our branches have operating facilities with surgical theatres, multiparameter anaesthetic monitors and experienced nurses. Tunbridge Wells and Crowborough have digital x-ray, dental x-ray and modern ultrasound machines. We’re very proud of our nursing team and our hospital means that we can care for most our patients without the need for referral.

Our style is very much to look after and work with our clients. We’re ambitious clinically but do our best to work within a client’s means when we need to. We’re very lucky to have (in general) a loyal and engaged group of clients.

We have a culture of collaboration with frequent case discussions, a very active clinical WhatsApp group and regular vets’ clinical meetings.

The Role
This role replaces a vet who completed her first two years after graduation with our and who has gone travelling – she is much missed! The successful applicant is likely to be working primarily in Crowborough and Wadhurst, although this does depend on whether the role is filled by several part time vets or one full time.

The new vet/vets would have the opportunity to develop a client base of their own, working within our small, experienced and well organised teams. They would be encouraged and supported to develop a particular clinical interest.  

We believe in a good work life balance. Our out of hours cover is provided by Vets Now from our Tunbridge Wells surgery. We currently work 2 Saturdays in 7 and have 2 long weekends in 7. We work two or three evening surgeries a week, with our last routine consult on those days at 1830.
