Job Details
An exciting opportunity has arisen in Bury St Edmunds for a Head Nurse, on a full-time basis, joining a team made up of 3 Vets, 3 Nurses, 1 VCA and 3 Receptionists.
The Vet team consists of Vanessa and Ana who have 14+ years’ experience, whilst Marta has over 2 years’ experience. In the Nurse team Claire & Denise have 20+ years’ experience whilst Lesley is an experienced veterinary receptionist with 6+ years’ experience.
The practice Partner, Ana Xavier, graduated from Lisbon University in 2004, and worked in Utrecht, Netherlands until moving to Britain in 2006. Her main areas of interest are endocrinology, orthopaedics and acupuncture.
The practice is very well equipped with capnography, digital x-ray, ultrasound, full state of the art IDEXX lab (haematology, biochemistry, in-house T4, fructosamine, bile acids, cortisol, PCV), blood pressure monitoring, pulse oximeter, v-gel and separate dog, cat and isolation wards. The team see approx. 45% cats, 45% dogs and 10% small furries with approx. 45% insured clients. Orthopaedics (CCLR, FHNE, pinning), acupuncture and basic physiotherapy are all carried out in practice so we can guarantee exposure to a wide variety of cases.
This role would suit an experienced registered nurse looking for the next step in their career or a Head Nurse who is happy to lead by example, has great communication skills and is looking to work with a positive and passionate team. You will be confident with all general nursing duties including the running of nurse clinics and ideally have experience of and enjoy coaching and mentoring student nurses.
The role will be full time averaging 40 hours per week with a 1 in 3 weekend rota with 2 days off in the week leading up to the weekend, and 1 day off in the week following. The surgery is located inside Pets at Home with allocated parking for colleagues at the back of the surgery.
