Flexible opportunities available
Join us on our new venture in Dundee for a work life less ordinary
We understand that one size doesn’t fit all when it comes to Vets, and we have the flexibility to consider all applications regardless of the number of hours you’re looking to work. Our Dundee clinic opens in November 2018 and we’re looking a Vet Surgeon who is passionate about emergency to complete the team. We recognise a work/life balance is of the upmost importance and have created a unique rota that offers 1:2 weekends, a mix of weekday nights and a significant period of time off in between shifts.
Diverse caseload
Working as an emergency vet with Vets Now will expose you to a diverse range of cases that you simply won’t see in general practice. In Dundee, our Vets will be continually challenged medically and surgically, and make a real impact by shaping our presence and reputation in the area.
Together we save pets’ lives
Vets Now is a Scottish based company and our support office in Dunfermline is the regular base for clinical training days and development – less than an hour’s drive from Dundee. You can nurture your skills with coaching and mentoring from our UK network of veterinary experts and, in clinic, you will be managed by our Senior Vet who will oversee your professional and career development. You will also be fully supported by an expert nursing team, Animal Care Assistants and Receptionists.
Continual professional development
Vets Now have revolutionised the way emergency veterinary care is provided. Since 2001, we have grown to become the UK’s leading provider of emergency and critical care, thanks in part to the dedication and clinical excellence of our clinical teams. People are at the heart of what we do, that’s why we take a pioneering approach to people development. We invest heavily in CPD and fully support our staff when they’re ready to take their career to the next level, be it promotion or studying for a certificate.
Great place to work
Recognising hard work is really important to us. Our employees are our greatest asset which is why we offer a first class benefits and rewards package that could include 6.6 weeks annual leave, comprehensive CPD allowance, pension contributions, professional membership, free holiday accommodation in Arran, 50% discounted staff pet care, death in service of two times annual salary, membership of employee wellbeing programme, company sick pay scheme, company maternity, paternity and adoption pay scheme and your birthday as a day off.
Celebrating success
As well as providing a competitive package of rewards and benefits, we also take pride in celebrating our successes. This includes hosting an annual awards ceremony for those who have exceeded expectations. Clinical staff are also encouraged to attend our annual ECC Congress, the largest in the UK, which features an array of internationally accredited speakers, delegates and exhibitors.
At Vets Now we are passionate about training and the on-going development of our employees. If this vacancy is of interest and you feel you would benefit from a supported route in to our business then AdvantEdge might be perfect for you. This is a two week programme for experienced, talented Vets that will fast track them into a successful emergency role
If you are a MRCVS registered veterinary surgeon with a solid foundation in general veterinary practice, please apply.
Company
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from 55 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and three 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 100,000 small animals every year — and during seasonal holidays, like Christmas and Easter, our highly-skilled staff answer around five queries an hour from worried pet owners. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our three hospitals — in Glasgow, Manchester and Swindon — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
