We strive to deliver world class patient care and our fantastic facilities provide a superb care environment, including 13 consultation rooms, 7 hospital wards, 5 theatres, full advanced imaging suite, 3 ultrasound rooms, an endoscopy suite, hydrotherapy pool and treadmills and dedicated chemo & radio-iodine treatment rooms define the setting.

The team

It takes a very special person to work nights.  Could that be you?  Working 7 nights on followed by 14 nights off, you will be in the same team every time, so you really get the opportunity to bond as a cohesive force.  

Night work doesn’t include any of the regular appointments or animal MOTs.  It’s very dependant on what arrives at the Practice on any given evening, or what cases there are already within our wards, so this role would someone who likes a varied and reactive environment.

The team currently consists of a Vet, 2 Nurses, 2 Kennel Assistants and one intern. We also have students on rotation from the University of Nottingham.

The role

Responsible for managing existing hospital patients plus first opinion out of hours emergency cases, you need to be a clear leader of the small team in order to prioritise treatments needed. Candidates should have a good level of experience in ECC and knowledge of referral work (for example a rotating internship) would be advantageous.

Our spacious hospital serves both a busy first opinion clinic and a multi-disciplinary referral service. You will be exposed to everything from routine to advanced cases, having the opportunity to improve your own skills in ECC. You will have access to all of the equipment you would expect including digital radiography, ultrasound, CT/MRI, endoscopy and high standard monitoring and ICU.

Required skills and experience….

  • Member of the RCVS qualified
  • Several years small animal vet work
  • Great customer service skills
  • Excellent core veterinary and surgical skills
  • Ability to prioritise and delegate
  • Commitment to continuous development


Would be good to have….

  • Certificate in Emergency and Critical Care/studying towards or willing to enrol on one
  • Previous referral experience such as a rotating internship
  • Experience dealing with a wide range of emergency medical and surgical cases
