Farm Vet - Shropshire

The practice
Shropshire Farm Vets Limited is an entirely farm based practice consisting of 16 farm vets – 9 clinical vets and 7 dedicated TB testing vets. There is no equine work. There is no small animal work. The majority of the work is dairy based and clients vary from 1400+ cows dairy herds to commercial (and highly specialised) beef and sheep units as well as small holders. We provide a comprehensive range of services that you would expect, and some more. We are also in the early stages of developing a poultry side due to the increasing numbers of poultry units locally. We are a member of both XL Vets and XL Farmcare Midlands.

The Role
Due to continued growth, this role is an additional position. Ideally we are looking for an enthusiastic assistant with appropriate experience in the farm/dairy sector. The majority of the work will be with dairy cattle, and a high standard here will be expected, but seasonally and increasingly so, beef and sheep work is also growing. Any interest or experience in poultry/ gamebird work would potentially be an advantage. The rota is split across the clinical vets.

The Package
Comprehensive backup, support and career development from within the practice (and wider as appropriate through XL Vets). 5 days paid CPD per year, a practice vehicle (currently VW Passat estate), a good weekend and night rota gives plenty of time to relax and enjoy the area.
