Small Animal Veterinary Surgeons (Full and Part Time) - Preston, Lancashire

Full time and part time small animal positions in a busy practice with varied medical and surgical caseload including out of hours emergency cover for our own clients.

The Practice
We are a large friendly team of 15 vets (8 small animal, 5 mixed and 3 large animal), 18 nurses and 14 receptionists. We work from a lovely new purpose built building which has excellent facilities including ultrasonography, digital x-ray, endoscopy, hydrotherapy and k-laser. We pride ourselves on providing a supportive environment in which to work. We provide 24 hour nursing care and a director is always available to provide assistance out of hours if needed. We strive to provide the best and most current treatment for our clients pets and in so doing actively encourage CPD. This includes regular in house clinical and pizza evenings!

Based in Penwortham, a large village just outside Preston, Lancashire. We are within 30 minutes’ drive of the coast and 1 hour from the Lake District and Manchester & Liverpool.

The Role 
We are looking for enthusiastic and caring small animal vets who will enjoy the buzz of being part of a busy team. The full time position is based on a 4.5 day week with 1 regular night on call. 1 in 6 Saturday & Sunday on call with 1.5 days in lieu and 1 in 6 Friday night & Saturday morning with a half day in lieu.

Successful Candidate
The position would be suitable for a new or recent graduate looking for a supportive environment in which to develop their skills. It would also be ideal for a more experienced candidate wanting to advance to certificate level. We currently have 3 certificate and 1 diploma holder.

The Package
For a recent graduate applying full time position we would guarantee a minimum package of £30 000. The salary for more experienced candidates and for the part time position would be discussed on an individual basis.
The package includes:

• salary and out of hours payments
• practice accommodation or a housing allowance
• 5 days CPD funded per year
• pension contributions of 3% of salary
• childcare vouchers if required
• 32 days annual leave (24 days plus bank holidays)
• half day lieu following a night on call
• 1.5 days lieu for a Saturday & Sunday worked
