We have a opportunity for an RCVS registered, new/recent graduate to work as one of two, 6 month staggered, intern positions in a busy referral practice alongside specialist and experienced referral surgeons  in orthopedic and spinal surgery. 

The referral practice shares facilities with a busy small animal practice with its associated full range of medical and surgical cases. The practice is RCVS hospital standard and includes two positive pressure dedicated  referral theatres, two digital radiography rooms and in house CT(GE,16 slice) scanner. We have weekly on site MRI scanning visits. 

The position is initially offered for a fixed 12 month period from 1st Aug 2018 (or as soon as available).

The nature of the work involved demands some working time flexibility. The working rota includes a weekly half-day off and a requirement to work alternate weekends with your 'off' weekend a three day long weekend. No other OOH duties will be contractually stipulated but as necessary, additional assistant with individual cases may be required as part of the remit. 

Duties will involve assisting in the undertaking of diagnostic and surgical interventions and in the peri-operative care of referred cases under the care of the vase vet with a view to maximising the  efficiency of case throughout the effectiveness of patient care. Experience will be offered in all aspects of referral case management with training targeted on the  diagnostic and operative procedures undertaken. It is envisaged that your time will be largely spent in preparation areas, wards, diagnostic imaging and theaters. 

It is hoped that this will provide relevant experience and enthusiasm for onward career development in orthopedics but this is not a position offering formal accredited training specific qualifications.
