  • One practice manager and an office administrator

The role:
Our nurses work Monday - Friday on a variable shift pattern starting at either  7:30am, 8am, 9am, 10am or 11:30am

We cover our own OOH emergency service up to 10pm at the High Wycombe surgery after which the emergency calls go through to Vets Now. Any patients seen between 7pm and 10pm are charged an OOH nursing call out fee which is claimed by the nurse.

After closing, at 7pm, one nurse per evening is on call with a vet until 10pm in case any emergencies come in. The nurse then spends the night in a spacious, modern, comfortable flat which is part of our Grade 2 listed building.

The overnight nurse is paid a set fee to spend the night on call plus extra payments are made for any visits to our kennel area which are necessary to care for inpatients that may have been kept in for observation.

The nurses also work some weekends on a rota basis. Saturday 8am – 4pm and Sunday 9am-11:00am. The nurse is then on call until 10pm and spends the night in the flat. The evening and night work is paid (as above), Sunday hours are paid at time and a half and a day off is given in lieu of working a Saturday or Bank Holiday.

The weekend rota is currently 1:8 and the night call rota about 1:8

We are ideally looking for a RVN or a nurse that has already gained some practical nursing experience.

Holidays

Salary:
Salary is dependant on experience. In addition to a salary, nurses can claim for night duties, plus any overtime or OOH work.

Company

We are a very long established, traditionally owned and run veterinary practice based in High Wycombe, with branch surgeries in Flackwell Heath and Marlow Bottom.

We offer a full range of veterinary treatment and expertise from our beautiful, Grade II listed building in the centre of High Wycombe.

We have a team of seven highly experienced vets, with over 120 years of practice between them, so you can be sure that your pet is in the best of hands.

There is ample parking at all three sites and a warm welcoming atmosphere for you and your pet. Being pet owners ourselves, we care passionately about the well-being of your animals and are open 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We do not believe in using ‘out-of-hours’ providers in another town and our own vets are always available in an emergency, 24 hours a day, at our own clinic.

Temple End Veterinary Surgery is a traditional, privately owned, non-corporate practice specialising in offering patient care tailored to your needs and expectations.

  • Excellent local reputation.
  • Unique 24 hour emergency cover in our own premises.
  • Highly experienced team of veterinary surgeons.
  • We run a range of free nurse advice clinics.
  • Ample, free, off-street parking at all three sites.
  • RCVS accredited Tier 2 Practice
  • Full diagnostic facilities.

Temple End Veterinary surgery is proud to be an approved member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Practice Standards Scheme.

We have achieved Tier 2 accreditation. This means that we undergo rigorous regular inspection and uphold high standards of hygiene, staff training, equipment and patient care. This ensures outstanding care for pets and peace of mind for pet owners. This is a voluntary scheme and not all vets choose to participate.

Unique 24 hour Emergency Cover

We strongly believe that when you need us in an emergency we should be here for you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Instead of outsourcing our Out-Of-Hours service we are the only vets in the local area to operate our own emergency cover. When you need us in the middle of the night, there is no need for you to travel to another town to try to find an emergency clinic you have never been to before.

All our clients have the peace of mind that, in an emergency, their pets will be seen by our own staff in the High Wycombe surgery who will have access to the patients previous clinical notes, whatever the time.
