Job Details

Small animal vet required for maternity cover starting in September in a forward thinking, well equipped, first opinion practice. Full or part-time position, with potential for a permanent role for the right applicant. Supportive team of experienced vets and RVNs so could suit a new graduate.

The Practice
Come and join our well established and highly respected practice in the beautiful Wye Valley.  You can have the best of both worlds with close access to both glorious countryside and the big city lights of Bristol and Cardiff. We are a RCVS Tier 2 accredited practice and nurse training centre with four experienced VS, five RVNs and one SVN. We are proud to offer our own out of hours care, but are conscious of maintaining a good work-life balance too.
We have a great range of tools to help provide high quality first opinion medicine and surgery, and also provide acupuncture, physiotherapy and hydrotherapy on site. Equipment includes digital x-ray including dental x-ray, ultrasound, bronchoscope and a very well-equipped laboratory to enable rapid diagnosis and treatment.

We have a great reputation locally and would love a new team member with the same commitment to both client and patient care. We have 15 minute appointment times to allow a thorough and caring approach to each case.

The Role
We are looking for a team member to join us for maternity cover, with the view to a permanent position after this period if mutually agreed. The job can be full or part time (20-40 hours per week)

An experienced VS would join the rota for nights on call and weekend work, less experienced VS would not be expected to do so until confidence and skills have been developed. Out of hours involves one night on call per week with an RVN who will also do the in-patient checks. Weekend  work is one in four Saturday mornings (8.30am to 1pm) and one full weekend on call every twelve weeks.

Successful Candidate
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic VS who genuinely cares for their patients and always gives their best. We are happy to support development of both medicine and surgery skills if these attributes are present! The ideal candidate would have enough experience for sole charge, surgery and out of hours work.

The Package
Salary will depend on hours and experience. CPD encouraged and funded. Accomodation can be provided if required.
