A great opportunity has arisen for an experienced veterinary nurse to join our team as our Head Nurse.

You will be leading a nursing team of 3 RVNs and one SVN within a practice with 2.5 vets and 2 receptionists. Previous head nurse experience desired but not essential. An interest in management is a must, as is working at high levels of clinical care.

We are a customer-focused practice which takes great pride in providing a superb level of patient and customer care. As such we take great care in clinical protocols, particularly in regard to general anaesthesia. Our nurses consult and are also a vital part of the team looking after hospitalised and anaesthetised patients, manage the lab, clean clinical areas as required, process insurance claims, manage drugs and consumables and ensure the smooth running of the practice from a clinical perspective.

You will be responsible for ordering and controlling costs of drugs and consumables, maintaining and developing clinical protocols, ordering the nurse rota and arranging cover when needed for holiday etc, arranging and chairing nurse meetings, managing the nursing team (including periodic reviews) and liaising with other teams within the practice.

You will need an interest in people, to be well organised, and be used to working at a high standard of clinical care, flexible, have a can-do approach, work well as part of a team and an interest in the business side of running a practice.

The practice is extremely well equipped, with a very large size for a London practice and all on one floor, and kept in excellent condition. We have 2 consulting rooms (one for cats and one for dogs), separate cat and dog waiting areas, separate cat and dog wards, an isolation ward, a very large prep area, separate surgery and radiology rooms, DR digital radiology (including dental radiology), high-quality IM3 dental unit, capnograph/pulse ox/doppler blood pressure/ECG and ultrasound machine, fluid pumps, Darvill/ Bair Hugger patient warmer, advanced ophthalmic equipment etc.

We are based in Fulham in Central/ South West London on the Wimbledon branch of the district line and the tube stop is only a few minutes walk away. We are also easily accessible from Clapham Junction train station or by bus. We also have bike racks and a hot shower if you choose to cycle or run!

We are looking for someone to start in January 2018 but we are very flexible with regards to starting date!
