Job Details

Are you ready to take your career to the next level? Beacon View Vets, a thriving independent practice in Kent, is on the lookout for a dynamic Vet to join our passionate and forward-thinking team. If you dream of practising exceptional veterinary care with no OOHs, where your expertise is valued, and you can enjoy the latest technology with CT on the way, then we’d love to hear from you!

About us

Beacon View Vets is an award-winning, independent small animal practice in Eastry, close to Canterbury and Sandwich. We have exciting plans for 2025, and building work is underway on our expansion to house a CT scanner and expanded clinical area

I (Claire) have always had a passion for animals and pursued my childhood dream of becoming a vet. While I enjoy the variety of the job, I am passionate about mentoring, and this inspired me to open Beacon View with Josh in 2020 to focus on fostering a supportive and nurturing environment for my team.  It’s great watching the team develop their skills and grow in confidence, and it’s the team that really makes Beacon View Vets so special. We’re a close-knit bunch that supports each other and gets on well. Our strong culture and values guide every decision, and I love that the team feels empowered to share their ideas and make decisions. It’s been great seeing these ideas come to life.

“I've been working at Beacon View for 18 months, and I feel really grateful to be part of such a great team. Everyone is totally dedicated to providing quality veterinary care for our patients and their humans. I love that I get to work somewhere that champions development both on a personal level and as a practice. From individual and group training to new equipment to regular meetings to discuss clinical improvements where anyone can make suggestions, the team is always striving to offer the best care to our clients and provide a service we can be proud of.” Sarah, MRCVS

Beacon View Veterinary Surgery

We are determined to remain independent, and by working alongside our team day to day, we have an inherent understanding of everyone’s needs and aspirations. We are long-standing members of the Vet Dynamics community, which helps our practice to thrive and grow. We were delighted to be presented with awards from the BVHA and VMA and proud to win the Vet Dynamics ‘Inspiring New Practice’ award in 2022, followed by the ‘Outstanding Leadership’ award in 2023. Being a responsible business is very important to us, and we are accredited by the Good Business Charter, which covers everything from environmental impact to team wellbeing.

We are continually investing in our team and equipment; in recent years, we have purchased the latest range of laparoscopic, endoscopic and orthopaedic equipment, which allows us to offer a wide range of services, including accepting local referrals. We are well equipped, including ultrasound with VVS station, dental radiography, digital DR radiography, and Tonovet, and are fortunate to be able to diagnose and treat most cases in-house.

Our team

We are proud of our team's experience and expertise. Our 5 vets are supported by an amazing nursing team of 6 RVNs, 2 SVN and a fantastic admin and reception team. We believe in nurturing talent and looking after the team's well-being. We have heavily invested in both clinical and non-clinical training across a wide range of topics and are happy to support the team's interests, including certificates.

I enjoy the variety of veterinary medicine and the opportunities available to our team. We are a collaborative team with interests and further study in imaging, dentistry, keyhole surgery, anaesthesia and internal medicine. Additionally, we benefit from the support of peripatetic services in ophthalmology, orthopaedics, diagnostic imaging and cardiology, along with access to VVS and VetCT specialists.

Beacon View Veterinary Surgery

“Beacon View is a supportive, independent business. It is a lovely, inclusive place to work, where my thoughts are appreciated and my development is always considered. Management is always keen to invest time and effort into staff to allow the best service for our clients and their pets. We are always looking at how we can adapt and improve our current ways of working to give the best standard of care. Beacon View has a lovely atmosphere, and I feel like I learn something new every day.” Hayley, RVN

“Since moving to Beacon View, I feel as though I have rekindled my love of veterinary nursing again. Being part of a team that is dedicated, compassionate and empathetic has allowed me to feel as though I am working alongside like-minded people, all of whom put the animals and their humans first. There is a shared sense of purpose and enthusiasm to help that is evident as soon as you walk through the doors of the building; the animals are not just patients; they are part of the family, and we want to do everything we can to make them feel better.” Rachel, RVN

The role

We are looking for a vet with some experience who shares our values of compassion, teamwork, accountability and embracing the adventure. We are focused on maintaining a wonderful place to work and providing clients with the personal service they deserve, delivered with empathy and exceptional care.

We are flexible with the rota and are happy to consider all options to fit. For Beacon View, it’s all about finding the right person, and our current team of vets all have bespoke arrangements. The weekend morning consults (Saturday 8.30-12.30 and Sunday 9-11) are shared between the team with no more than 1:4 weekends, and MiNightVet covers our OOHs.

Our 20-minute consultations and scheduled time for admin allow us to provide a thorough service, build strong client relationships, and focus on providing exceptional care without the pressure of constant rushing.

Company

Beacon View Vets was established in 2019 near Dover and Canterbury, it is the result of thousands of hours of hard work. It has taken quite some time, but we are incredibly excited to share our practice with you.

This venture represents an approach to veterinary care which Claire has always believed in, and we welcome you to join us on the journey.

We have planned every aspect of the practice to provide the best pet care, team and customer experience possible. Beacon View is fully equipped with the latest technology, hosted in our beautifully designed award winning, suite of facilities. Whether it’s booking your appointment, taking a trip to the clinic or caring for your pet in the home, every element of your experience is carefully thought through.

As dedicated pet owners ourselves, we understand the joy and companionship that pets provide. Every furry friend who pads through our doors will receive the attention they deserve, and you will be treated as a partner in your pet’s care. This requires time and patience, so our appointments are longer than average to ensure your pet receives the highest level of care, and you never feel rushed.

"I believe that when you go to the vets you should feel welcome, there should be no stress for you or your pet and you should never feel rushed or uncomfortable. Our team is united by the vision of providing uniquely personalised and compassionate veterinary care." Claire Smith, founder
