Job Details
Are you looking for a full or part-time role with no Saturdays, Sundays, or out-of-hours?
Condorrat Veterinary Surgery is an independent small animal practice in Cumbernauld that has provided exceptional veterinary care to the local community for over 35 years. Elisa qualified in Italy, and after moving to the UK, she first worked for a mixed practice in Newcastle before deciding to concentrate on small animals and take ownership of Condorrat Vets in 1998. She is proud of the strong relationships she has built with our lovely clients over the last 25 years, and she now knows three generations of some families and their furry friends. Elisa enjoys all aspects of veterinary work although if you ask the team, they’ll tell you Elisa has a special interest in talking and can often be found catching up on the ins and outs of our clients’ lives!
We have such a supportive team that is always willing to lend a helping hand or offer advice. Elisa is happy to mentor less experienced vets to build their confidence and develop their skills. Emma first joined us during her EMS training. After qualifying from Edinburgh in 2010, she gained many years of experience working in small animal practices, including as a partner in her own practice. Emma came back to join us 18 months ago and enjoys being a GP vet. Our lovely vet, Mila, is heading off on maternity leave, so we are looking for a vet to join us in 2025. This is initially a 12-month maternity cover, but there is the potential for this to become a permanent role.
“I have been working at Condorrat Vets since July 2023 and have found it to be an outstanding practice to work at. The team is incredibly welcoming, friendly and supportive, creating a fantastic work environment. Additionally, the clientele here is exceptional, highly educated and deeply committed to the care of their pets. On top of that, if you’re someone who values a peaceful lifestyle, Condorrat is a wonderful place to live, offering a relaxed and tranquil setting.” Mila MRCVS
“The team at Condorrat is really friendly and welcoming. There is a good variety of clinical cases.” Emma MRCVS
We are an RCVS nurse training practice, and many of our nursing team trained with us. Rachael joined us as a student in 2012 and has been with us ever since. She became Head Nurse six years ago and has recently taken on the role of Practice Manager. Hannah also trained here and is now our Deputy Head Nurse, and Jennifer qualified with us in 2023. Naomi joined us last year after travelling and working in New Zealand, and Rachel, our SVN, has just completed her third year of training.
“Condorrat has a small, family-friendly vibe to it. Clients come back again and again. Colleagues have a great working relationship, and the banter is great!” Rachael Head RVN
“The team at Condorrat is supportive and encouraging to all students throughout their training. There are plenty of opportunities to learn and ask questions.” Jennifer SVN
We are really flexible with the rota, so whether you’re looking for full or part-time hours, we would be happy to design a rota that works around any other commitments you may have. There are no Saturdays, and our out-of-hours are outsourced to GUVS, who also look after our inpatients, so you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy life outside of work. If you’re a more experienced vet who prefers surgery to consults, you could work a surgical-only rota, or we can build a rota with a surgical bias.
There is plenty of time throughout the day to work up cases, make phone calls, or catch up on paperwork, as we don’t schedule any consults between 12.30 pm and 3 pm. This also means you’ll always have time for a proper lunch break.
We love to laugh and throw notoriously fun get-togethers, whether catching up at work with a McDonald’s lunch or a proper night out. We have had some amazing parties over the years, including murder mystery nights and renting out a lodge with a hot tub. This year, our Christmas celebrations included a weekend at the five-star Cameron House Hotel in Loch Lomond. We had a fantastic time pony trekking, enjoying a boat ride on the stunning lake, and unwinding at the spa—while also nursing our hangovers!
Condorrat, a former village in rural North Lanarkshire, is now a suburb of the up-and-coming town Cumbernauld, on the outskirts of Glasgow. There are many beautiful green spaces to explore, including nearby Palacerigg Country Park with nature trails and a tree-top walkway. Glasgow and Stirling can be reached in 20 minutes and are easily accessible using the nearby M80, and Edinburgh is just an hour away. There is also easy access to both Glasgow and Edinburgh airports.
We offer:
- A salary of £35,000 – £60,000
- Six weeks holiday
- CPD is encouraged, and certificates will be supported
- Professional fees paid for RCVS and VDS
- Lots of social events and team building
