We are seeking an enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Nurse with a keen interest in surgery and anaesthesia to join our supportive team at Moorview Referrals on a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract.
Enhance Your Expertise
As a Referral Surgical Nurse, you’ll take on a key role in surgical preparation, managing instruments and kits, and assisting with anaesthesia across a diverse caseload, including orthopaedic and soft tissue procedures. Your responsibilities will also involve assisting with imaging techniques such as X-rays, CT, and MRI, with opportunities to scrub in during surgeries. This dynamic position offers an excellent opportunity to expand your skills and gain comprehensive experience in surgical nursing within a well-equipped and collaborative environment.

Located in Cramlington, Northumberland, Moorview Referrals is a purpose-built, multi-disciplinary veterinary referral hospital. With a dedicated team of over 100 professionals-including veterinary surgeons, nurses, and support staff-we are committed to delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring happy, healthy animals and satisfied owners.
About You
We are looking for a nurse with a strong interest in surgery and anaesthesia. While previous experience in referrals is an advantage, we welcome candidates of all backgrounds who are eager to develop their skills. You should be proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about providing outstanding patient care while embracing advanced diagnostic and surgical techniques.
Working Hours
This full-time position consists of 40 hours per week and offers a variety of shifts, with start times as early as 8:00 AM and finish times as late as 8:00 PM. Typical shifts include 8:00 AM-4:30 PM and 11:30 AM-8:00 PM, with occasional mid-shifts as needed. The role also involves a 1:5 weekend rotation, working two 12-hour shifts on Saturday and Sunday. Following the weekend shifts there will be TOIL during the week. We are open to discussing a 4-day working week.
