Veterinary Surgeon

Due to expanding our team, we are looking for an additional Veterinary Surgeon. As a new role, you could be a new grad looking for a supportive team, or an experienced vet looking for an opportunity to commit to an independent practice and develop the business.

We are one of a few remaining independent practices which gives staff a really strong sense of loyalty and sense of ownership. Practice decisions are made here, with everyone’s ideas and contributions encouraged and listened to. We have a hugely exciting year ahead of us, with a lovely new premises secured, with a move into the bigger and fresher building planned for late spring.

The Role 

Well that's a fairly broad description! We are looking for a vet who believes in our ethos, that the team make the practice. Passionate about providing the best possible care to our loyal clients with compassion for those that are making difficult choices.

As an independent practice, you have complete clinical autonomy, freedom to work up cases as you wish, with support and plenty of opportunity to discuss cases with the rest of the team. If you are a new grad or early career vet, you will have support and direction readily available with a specific mentor, or if you are experienced, you are free to develop your interests further, and even to buy in to the practice, if you wish.

Your days would be a mix of consults and ops, with time for admin and phone calls.

You would become the fifth vet in our team, with a support of eight RVNs and a kennel assistant, and four receptionists, split across out two branches.

As a new role, you could be either full time, or part time, or somewhere in between! Our strong work:life balance emphasis means no one works more than a four day week. We are open 8-6 and 9-12 on a Saturday morning, so everyone is home for lunch when you're on the Saturday rota. No out-of-hours.

We also realise that as animal lovers, we love toys! We have digital x-ray, dental x-ray, ultrasound, a comprehensive Idexx lab (we try to do as much as possible in house), we also have orthopedic kit, so if that's your interest, we can happily support that.

We are an accredited Cat Friendly practice with a Silver award. We are currently introducing a “Cat only” day at our Wareham branch, to provide the least stressful and best care possible for our feline patients.

• £45,000 to £75,000 pro rata dependent on experience
