Job Details

Here at New Malden, we are currently undergoing an exciting refurb and expansion of our practice and are thrilled to announce we have a fantastic opportunity for a Head Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our incredible team!

About us
You’ll be joining and working alongside a supportive, stable team of 5 Vets (one with a certificate in small animal medicine), 4 RVN’s, 4 VCA’s, a dedicated reception team, a Practice Administrator and our practice manager. Although a lot of our team have been with us between 6 - 10 years, our practice owner, who qualified 25 years ago, has grown the practice significantly since taking over in 2012 meaning we are always growing our family and welcoming new faces into the team!

As part of our new expansion we will now soon have at the practice a total of 6 consult rooms, 2 being brand new, 2 operating theatres, a dental X-ray, dedicated imaging room as well as a dedicated pharmacy. At New Malden, as well as cats, dogs and rabbits we also see a variety of exotic cases, with one of our vets studying a certificate in exotic animal medicine. Because of this we will now also have separate dog, cat and exotic wards as well as separate waiting areas! We are also adding on a separate isolation ward.

About you

You’ll have great communication and organisation skills and take pride in working to a high standard. You’ll have an interest in and want to learn about, the practice as a business. The key to your success will be your ability to embrace all aspects of the Veterinary Nurse role, delivering excellent patient and client care.

As a Head Nurse you’ll be directing the day to day running of the clinical team, lending a hand where needed and acting as a role model to our growing nurse and VCA team in developing their skills, as well as having managerial skills to optimise workflow. For this position you will need to of had previous experience in managing a large team.

You’ll be developing the potential of our RVNs in their individual surgical and medical interests, as well as assisting the training of the whole nurse and VCA team. You’ll be involved in appraisals and auditing of clinical care, and so must be able to inspire and motivate.

About the role
This role will be full time working 40 hours a week with just 1 in 4 weekends and no OOH, ensuring an excellent work/life balance! It will encompass diverse first opinion nurse duties, from anaesthetic monitoring to inpatient care, nurse consults, radiography and ultrasonography, ordering, and assisting with procedures. There's also an opportunity to get involved in schedule 3 procedures.

Benefits:
• Competitive salary of up to £44,000 DOE
• Generous CPD opportunities, including funded certificates.
• Social events and a focus on wellbeing.
• Contributory pension schemes.
• Paid memberships (RCVS, BVNA, VDS).
• Exclusive company discounts and rewards - including 20% off at Pets at Home, The Groom Room and the Vet Group.

We can offer a friendly, inclusive work environment, and are happy to support individuals’ areas of special interest. You will be joining a bubbly, hard-working team who are dedicated to providing outstanding pet healthcare and fantastic, caring customer service.
