Are you passionate about all things feline? Ready to thrive with a friendly, supportive team that values and listens to your ideas?
About us
The Oxford Cat Clinic is a 6-vet independent feline practice in beautiful, historic Oxford, with clinics at Marston and Botley. We have an established reputation in both first-opinion and referral-level feline medicine. There is so much experience within our team, including our two Specialists, Martha and Lauren, and our Advanced Practitioners, Caroline and Eleanor.
One of our lovely nurses has recently relocated, so we are looking for an RVN who wants to specialise in all things cat to join our experienced nurse team.
- Head Nurse Kim has completed the ISFM Diploma in Feline Nursing and has started the medical nursing certificate. She also has a certificate in nutrition.
- Kathryn is particularly interested in feline behaviour and has completed the ISFM Feline Behaviour course.
- Claudia, who is relocating, completed the ISFM feline certificate during her time at the practice.
- Tilly recently joined the team as our lead nurse at Botley. Tilly has a passion for anaesthesia, nurse consults and of course, CATS!
We actively encourage our nurses to use and develop their full range of nursing skills, so if you want to take on a certificate and continue your studies, we will fully support you. Lauren particularly enjoys sharing her knowledge with the nursing team and has even been known to throw in a follow-up pop quiz! We would love to expand our nurse clinics and welcome your enthusiasm and ideas to help us launch condition-specific clinics.
We value collaboration and have daily huddles with the whole team at the start of the day and an afternoon ward round - a great way to have clinical discussions, share ideas and generally catch up.
What our team says about us:
“The best thing about working at the cat clinic is the calm environment. It does not only benefit the cats but also us! I also love the variety of cases. Academically, you can see and be part of complex cases that involve a lot of nursing care. Plus, I love that all the vets are understanding with nurses, and they value and consider our advice when applicable. No one has ever put me down for being a nurse; they all listen to you and treat you as an equal." Claudia RVN
“A knowledgeable team that shares ideas and thoughts. Feels more like family than colleagues. I love my shifts at OCC!” Becca Finney, Locum RVN
The rota
We know how important work-life balance is, so our RVNs only work one late shift (11-7) each week. On the other days, you’ll work either an 8-4, 9-5 or 10-6 shift. The weekend rota is just 1:5 (Saturday 8.30-2.30 and Sunday 8.30-12.30), with time off in lieu the following week. There are no out-of-hours or bank holidays, as this is outsourced to our local Medivet out-of-hours clinic. When on the late shift, you will carry out a 10 pm late check on any stable in-patients who are staying with us. On the weekends, late checks are shared with the duty vet. You will receive a bonus payment for any late checks carried out.
The social scene
We’re a close-knit team that loves spending time together, whether sharing laughs at work over some of Duncan's delicious homemade cake or grabbing a meal at the local pub. Just like our feline friends, we appreciate a quieter lifestyle, opting for fun activities like bowling or escape rooms rather than wild nights on the town. Who needs the noise when you have great company?
We also get involved in local events, like the Bubble Rush 5K, where we had a bubbly-good time and raised money for a great cause - Helen and Douglas House, a local hospice which cares for terminally ill babies, children and young people.
The local area
Oxford has something for everyone, from its stunning architecture, rich history, and vibrant cultural scene to punting on the River Isis and hiking, cycling, and nature walks in the picturesque countryside of the Cotswolds and Chiltern Hills. It’s also just an hour to London by train and has easy access to the M4.
We offer:
- A salary of £28,000 to £32,000
- 5 weeks’ holiday, plus bank holidays
- Your birthday off
- CPD encouraged, with certificates supported and funded
- Professional fees paid for RCVS and VDS
- Temporary accommodation available

Company
Over the past 18 years, we have built a team of dedicated feline veterinary surgeons and nurses who work together to provide the highest quality surgical and medical care for cats.
The Oxford Cat Clinic was established in 2006 by Caroline Blundell and Martha Cannon, two veterinary surgeons with a passion for cats. Our aim is to put cats and their owners at the heart of our medical practice.
If you’re looking for a veterinary surgery that maintains old-fashioned values, combining them with the best in veterinary treatment and care, The Oxford Cat Clinic has it all.
Now under the leadership vision of Mel and Chris Weatherall, Caroline and Martha remain in their clinical roles at the Cat Clinic and have been joined by a friendly team of hugely knowledgeable veterinary professionals who are on-site to help answer owners' queries.
We offer a wide range of services and treatments, from routine procedures like vaccinations, worming and neutering surgery to providing the care required should they become ill or injured. Our combined knowledge speaks for itself. There are very few cat issues we haven’t dealt with in the past, and our on-site laboratory and surgical facilities allow us to provide swift and cost-effective diagnosis and treatment for your cat.
Between us, we have a lifelong love of cats, which we want to share with you. Many of our team have extra qualifications in small animal medicine or feline behaviour. Martha and Lauren are both accredited feline specialists. Caroline and Eleanor are both advanced practitioners in feline medicine. With this background, our vets are regularly asked to write about or deliver talks to owners and professionals about cats.
