Job Details
Role Overview
Whilst this is a full-time permanent position, we are happy to take applications from candidates wanting to work flexibly. The position is 5 days per week on a rota basis, 1 in 6 weekends and a share of the bank holiday rota, planned in advance.
We have 4 practices in the Leeds postcode, 3 in North Leeds and one in Ilkley, which will only require occasional holiday cover.
The role will work across surgical, medical, emergency and exotics departments (no regular night work). Duties include consulting, client care, general anaesthesia for routine and complex procedures, surgical nursing, triage, routine and complex inpatient care, and running diagnostic tests (lab/radiography/CT) across a range of species (cats/dogs/rabbits/reptiles/birds/small mammals).
Our Facilities and Environment
As a general practice with mid-tier referral, certificate holder led departments in surgery, medicine, behaviour, dentistry and exotics we have a varied caseload and cases are worked up to a high standard. Why not come and start your referral nursing career with us. You would benefit from access to cutting-edge diagnostics such as CT, X-Ray, ultrasound, laparoscopy and endoscopy across our fully equipped practices. Our facilities include purpose-built consulting rooms, an isolation ward, and a spacious prep/theatre suite. We utilise multiparameter monitoring for anaesthesia and a ventilator to ensure the highest standard of care. Handling both first opinion and referral cases, our focus remains on delivering exemplary care to every species.
Location and Team
Conveniently located just off the ring road in north Leeds, near Roundhay Park, our practice boasts excellent transport links to the city centre. Our team comprises 19 vets, 19 RVNs (including our dedicated night nurse team), 6 SVNs, 6 VCAs, and 10 receptionists working to provide 24 hour wrap around care to our patients at our hospital, general practice clinics and exotics only practice. Having been open now for 30 years we have developed a range of annual team events and a full schedule of practice meetings as well as one to one career development and professional coaching available to all staff. We run regular Schwartz Rounds to allow our team to reflect on the emotional and social impact of care. Rotas are carefully crafted to consider work life balance and home time and breaks are prioritised. We want to know what you want from your career, and we will help you to make that happen.

Company
Holly House has been providing North Leeds with quality veterinary care since 1994 and the North of England with dedicated exotic care facilities for over ten years. We also provide our own 24 hour on-site emergency service so there is no need to travel to other branches out-of-hours. Our emergency service can be accessed by calling the usual number at any time, day or night.
In 2010, Holly House succeeded in its dream of becoming the first Veterinary Hospital in North Leeds. The Practice Standards Scheme is a voluntary initiative set up by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), which aims to promote and maintain the highest standards of veterinary care. The RCVS has inspected us and agreed that our facilities, equipment and also our levels of care and expertise reach Hospital standard.
The practice is owned by Stuart McArthur and run by him and a dedicated team of Vets, Nurses and Reception staff. You can find out more about our staff and the qualifications they hold in our about us section.
