Main Location: 2 High Street, Bushey

Hours: Full time, Part time

Practice: Blythwood Vets Bushey; Hatch End; Northwood; Stanmore

We have a new position for an additional experienced veterinary surgeon to join our established team! No OOH!

Blythwood is a small animal primary care group with four closely located practices in the northwest London region. We are based in leafy northwest London, with direct train links into central London. Our main clinics are located in Bushey and Hatch End with smaller branches located in Stanmore and Northwood. We have been established within the local area for over 40 years.

At Blythwood we have a fantastic, supportive team, who strive to provide both excellent quality care and a happy experience for both owners and their beloved pets. Our aim is to build a lasting relationship with our clients. We are part of the Practice Standards Scheme and a training practice for Veterinary Nurses. The practices are 100% small animal with team support provided at multi vet sites in Bushey and Hatch End, though some sole charge is required. You will have the opportunity to work alongside our highly experienced nurse team! We are a high-end first opinion group with a large proportion of insured clients. We also work in close association with our local Cat’s Protection Centre in Harrow. Our practices have digital x-rays, dental x-rays, ultrasound machines with colour flow doppler.

Your role and responsibilities:

Blythwood Vets have a new position for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our team. Full-time and part-time applicants considered. You will be responsible for delivering high standard clinical care while building lasting relationships with clients and fellow colleagues. The ideal candidate would be at least three years qualified and confident with 15-minute appointments, performing routine consultations and procedures. A willingness to learn is important as active development is encouraged and supported.

Rota:

Full-time rota is a 40-hour (4-day) week, with 1 in 6 weekends and an additional 6 Saturdays throughout the year. There is no on call. However, there is an inpatient rota, where the vet provides back-up to the nurse on evening checks. Any patient that requires constant monitoring is transported to our OOH provider. Time off in-lieu is available following working the weekend or open for discussion as part of a salary package. Start times are 9am to 7pm weekdays. 9am to 4pm Saturdays and 10am to 4pm Sundays. The role consists of a mix of both consulting and surgery.

Part-time applicants will be requested to contribute towards the weekend rota.

Benefits:
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays and birthday off (pro-rata for part-time)
  • No out-of-hours (OOH)
  • RCVS and VDS fees paid
  • External CPD funded
  • Extensive free online Linnaeus CPD program

Company

We are vets who care

We are a small, friendly team of vets and have been providing veterinary care in the area for over 30 years. Our aim is to provide a caring and quality veterinary service dedicated to the needs of our clients and their pets throughout all stages of their lives.

We do understand that coming into the clinic can potentially be an anxious time, particularly when your pet is ill, but we do our utmost to ensure each visit is as stress free and as positive an experience as possible.

All of our staff are pet owners themselves, so we understand that pets are honorary family members and that we want them to be as comfortable, happy and healthy as possible.

As with human medicine, prevention is better than cure. Regular health checks, keeping vaccines and anti-parasitic treatments up to date, using some sort of dental care (brushing, chews or dental biscuits) and monitoring bodyweight will help ensure your pet remains healthy and fulfils its maximum life expectancy.

When we do find disease, early detection and treatment usually mean less needs to be done to fix the problem, or for conditions that are managed rather than cured (eg arthritis, or chronic kidney disease) then early intervention increases longevity and slows down progression.
