Job Details

This role is ideal for an enthusiastic individual who is looking to be part of a caring, fun, and dedicated team, with the drive to give excellent client experience and high-quality care to our patients. This role can truly be tailored to you, with a highly experienced veterinary team, we have the right support network to help develop and nurture your talent.

About Highgate

We are a close-knit bunch of 4 vets, 5 nurses and support staff, working in a first-opinion small animal practice on the edge of the Lake District. Our clinical staff range in experience from a few years graduated, to many years qualified.

All our staff work across our two clinics within Kendal; Highgate covers more hospitalised and sick patients and Beezon hosts dentistry and day cases. Our Beezon site was a Petplan practice of the year finalist in 2021 (top 3 from 15,000 entries)!

How will I be supported?

Our fantastic nursing team, Area Directors and Areas Support Managers are always ready to help.

We have a supportive learning culture with morning huddles, monthly clinical club, and lots of treats. Our practice supports the local Greyhound rehoming centre, and some of our staff volunteer for local pet blood bank collections!

How can we support your work/life balance?

Our standard full-time rota is 40 hours over a 4-day week and at present are doing a 1:5 Saturday morning rota, however, our flexible approach to rota patterns and working hours truly tips the scale of your work-life balance. Our OOH is managed by VetsNow so no out of hours work is required.

We appreciate how important work/life balance is and would be happy to discuss part time / flexible working to suit your needs.

Our standard day starts with a huddle at 8:30 am and ends between 5.30 -7 pm depending on the day/rota.

What do I get in return?

We offer a competitive salary for this role of up to £65,000 depending on experience, and a relocation payment of up to £3,000 and Welcome Bonus of up to £5,000.

Company

Established in 1949 by Mr John Geary, Highgate Veterinary Clinic has provided a first class service for all types of companion and farm animals in Kendal and the South Lakeland for over 62 years. In 2011, shedding the farm side of the business, Highgate Vets became the only practice in Kendal totally dedicated to caring for pets and further refined it’s high level of veterinary expertise, client and patient care. Our vets have over 88 years of combined experience with a wide range of professional interests and skills meaning that most conditions including complex diagnoses, treatment and surgery can be carried out at the clinic, often without the need for a referral centre. In March 2015, Highgate Veterinary Clinic expanded, opening Highgate Vets @ Beezon Road as a branch surgery.  The new clinic is open Monday to Friday during the day for a full range of services.  Highgate Vets @ Beezon Road has a dental suite, cat-friendly facilities and plenty of parking spaces too.

The team actively seek to improve patient care and customer service. All of the vets, nurses and reception staff regularly attend courses to further extend and develop their skills. The vets frequently discuss and seek each other’s thoughts and opinions about their current cases or the latest findings in veterinary research. “Our aim is to provide a friendly, affordable and professional service for you and your animals in a caring and supportive environment”
