Job Details
Having now completed a new extension, our busy RCVS practice standards accredited GP practice in Gloucester is seeking an experienced vet to join our team.
We first opened in 2012 and have retained many of the same team since then, with many of our clinical team having been with us for over 8 years.
“'Companion Care Gloucester has a very high varied case load and excellent work environment. Working here has allowed me to develop in all areas of skill sets in general first opinion practice over the last 5 years. The work team are fantastic across the board from reception to management, and I feel my voice is heard at all times.' Zack (BVM&S MRCVS) Veterinary Surgeon, Gloucester Companion Care
Owner and vet Jake Koopman qualified in South Africa in the year 2000 and is a very experienced Joint Venture Partner and GP vet, enjoying most aspects of veterinary practice, with a keen interest in ophthalmology, clinical pathology and medicine.
Jake likes to operate an open-door policy, with our team all working closely together and not only learning from each other’s strengths and skills, but from the exceptionally varied caseload we see.
As well as our vet team, you will also be working with an incredible, longstanding, and knowledgeable nursing team of 5 RVNs whose skills are fully utilised, as well as our non-clinical team supported by our Practice Manager Barbara who is also a qualified RVN and Mental Health First Aider.
This is a fast-paced practice with an ever growing and varied case load so the role will be full-time, working a shift pattern of either 8am-4pm or midday until 8pm and will include 1 in 4 weekends with days off in the week when you work a weekend and with additional on call hours being optional. If these hours don’t quite suit you though, we’d still love to hear from you and would be very happy to talk with you about your preferred hours.
Our days are busy but they are also well structured with consults given 20 minutes as standard, and time for breaks, admin and lunch all factored into your day.
Due to the nature of this role, we are looking for an experienced vet with broad GP skills, exceptional communication skills and someone who will thrive from learning from the varied case load seen whilst providing the highest level of veterinary care.
In return for your dedication and high-quality work, we can offer:
We are also ideally located in an area with great local amenities, plenty of parking and good public transport links, as well as being close to the M5 taking you to larger towns and cities within the UK and within a short drive of the beautiful Cotswolds too. For international travel, our nearest airports are Birmingham (1 hr away), Bristol (1 ½ hrs away) and London Heathrow (2 hrs away).
