Here at Animals 1st, we are looking for a dedicated and committed Veterinary Surgeon to join our team to cover maternity leave. Duties will include routine consultations, operations, fulfilling prescription requests, and answering client queries by email and on the phone.

A typical week is 4/5 days between 8:00am-6:00pm. The weekend and other rota is flexible and will be designed to fit in with the right candidate. There will be 1 in 3 Saturdays from 9:00am-12:00pm.

Animals 1st currently has 2 branches, with the smaller branch being for consults only. We have 2 theatres, a new ultrasound machine and digital radiography. We are a Nurse and Vet training practice.
The practice is based 20 minutes from Edinburgh and 10 minutes from the beach. The train station 5 minutes away and on a local bus route.

Our lovely team consist of 3.5 Veterinary Surgeons, 2 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 3 Student Veterinary Nurses, 1 Practice Manager and 3 Receptionists. We have certificate holders in medicine, feline practice and cardiology and we are happy to support certificates depending on the candidates needs.

Animals 1st is a friendly small animal veterinary practice dedicated to a high standard of veterinary care and treatments.
Our team of Veterinary Surgeons, Nurses and Animal Care Assistants have a wealth of experience, and our main objective is to provide pets with excellent veterinary care for their whole life, from early days as a puppy or kitten right through to caring for them as a senior citizen. Our state of the art facilities, will help to secure a speedy diagnosis and treatment.
Our staff are friendly and professional. We accept vouchers from Cats Protection, PDSA, Dogs Trust and The Dog Aid Society.
