Why Join Us?
Acorn Vets is a 2-site practice. The main site on Portland Road has 2 vets working supported by 3-4 vet nurses per day. The Hangleton road branch supports a smaller but tight-knit community and would be sole charge with 2 nurses supporting. Equipment includes in-house laboratory, digital x-ray, ultrasound machine, digital dental x-ray, operating theatre.
There are local attractions around both sites, a 5-minute walk from a beautiful seafront and a 10-minute drive to the South Downs. Hove is situated within Brighton and is a really fun place to live and work and has great transport links to London.
About the Team and Culture
We consider staff - change to ‘team’ wellbeing a priority as well as working with our staff - change to ‘team’ to create a good work-life balance which enables us to provide a great and friendly service to our clients, many of whom have been with the practice for several decades.
Our team consists of 5 Vets, alongside 7 Registered Veterinary Nurses and 2 Student Nurses. We also have ample support from our 5 support team members. We have an exceptionally supportive team in place, and should you pick Acorn as your next place to work, your well-being is one of our top priorities.
The Perfect Fit
We hope to find a vet who is as passionate about animal and client care as well as wanting to be part of a team as we all work closely together and help each other out. We ask that you must be confident to do some days sole charge at our branch practice. You must be registered with the RCVS, preferred 3ys+ qualified and it is essential that you have excellent communication skills. We are seeking a Veterinary Surgeon who is competent in all routine surgeries and ideally more complex ones too, although there is support available, potential for the right candidate to take on a senior vet role to assist the current Clinical Director.

Company
Acorn Vets has been providing compassionate and caring veterinary treatment for pets at an affordable price in Hove for more than 33 years. The practice was set up in 1978 under the Anicare logo and changed its name to Acorn in 2002, when the Hangleton branch was opened to provide our Hangleton clients with a more convenient local surgery.
2011 saw the total refurbishment of the Portland Road surgery, with a new sterile operating theatre, new kennels and waiting room.
We are proud to boast that most of our staff have been with us for more than five years and some have been here more than twenty five, so we like to think we know our clients well.
We offer our clients the best of both worlds - new, modern premises and familiar faces you know and trust.
