We are a family owned business and the only truly independent UK manufacturer of nutraceuticals. We operate our own purpose- built manufacturing facility licensed to GMP standards with an in-house R&D department and are completely in control of our destiny from start to finish.
The Role
Are you a recent graduate eager to embark on a rewarding career in sales? VetPlus, a leading international business in the veterinary sector, is inviting passionate individuals like you to step into the role of Area Sales Manager. Key Responsibilities:
- Forge and nurture relationships with both existing and prospective clients via phone, email, and in-person meetings.
- Adopt a consultative approach to determine sales opportunities based on customer needs, industry best practices, sound advice, and unparalleled product performance.
- Manage and oversee 200-300 practices within your designated region.
- Host daily engagement sessions, from one-on-one meetings to group presentations, identifying potential collaborations with existing and emerging practices.
- Extend consistent, unparalleled support to all VetPlus clients, from single vet practices to larger establishments with over 30 professionals.
- Participate and network at national and international veterinary shows and exhibitions.
Training & Development:
As part of our commitment to your success, you'll embark on an intensive 42-week training program led by our seasoned in-house team of sales managers and veterinary surgeons.
The program covers:
Comprehensive technical knowledge of VetPlus and competitor products.
Mastery of the sales process from lead generation to deal closure.
Development of commercial and business acumen.
Techniques for fostering robust and lasting relationships with our clientele.

Successful Candidate
- An academic background with a minimum 2:1 degree in any discipline.
- Prior experience or a keen interest in the animal health sector is advantageous.
- Innate ability to establish and nurture relationships.
- Goal-oriented, with a proactive approach towards achieving objectives.
- A genuine passion for delivering exemplary customer service.
- Capable of independent operations.
- Openness to travel and stay away from home during critical periods.
- Possession of a full UK driving license.

Basic salary £30,000 with a graduation bonus, after assessment, at 12 months, of £5,000, plus commission after 6 months and end of year bonus if you have hit your targets. Salary of €35,000 and €5,000 for the Irish roles.

VetPlus was founded in 1995 by David Haythornthwaite, the company’s current owner. David, who lived in the USA for thirteen years, had identified America’s growing interest in veterinary nutraceuticals:
“Substances produced in a purified or extracted form that are administered orally to provide or stimulate production of raw materials required for normal bodily functions.”
Pioneer
Coming from an agricultural background and recognising that most good ideas eventually cross the Atlantic to Europe he returned to the UK determined to develop his own range of veterinary products. Starting from a bedroom in Lytham, David took the original concept and pioneered the development and acceptance of nutraceuticals within the UK veterinary profession.
