Unlock your potential!

An opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our long-standing team at Martin and Carr Vets, Pershore. We can mould the opportunity we have to suit you - whether you want a surgical caseload or consult only we can accommodate. If surgery is your bag, we can offer one full day of surgeries per week and you can fully work up your cases. If you prefer consults, we can offer a consult only role. Professional and personal development is at the centre of our practice, that’s why we offer you the support you need to succeed. We share knowledge, build your confidence, and encourage clinical freedom - there are no career boundaries.

Flexible working that offers real flex

Our people are at the heart of everything that we do, that’s why we know that work-life balance is vital in supporting our people to be their best selves. Whether you need reduced working days/hours for hobbies, need to do the school drop off/pick up or would simply like a more flexible rota pattern, we can fix or flex our patterns to suit you - you tell us what you need. Typically, full time hours will consist of working 4 days a week between 8:30 am and 6:30 pm. We switch the phones over to Vets Now so remote phone cover is required by the duty vet for just 1 hour, with a Registered Veterinary Nurse on site until 7pm. Weekends are 1:4 Saturdays, carrying out consults between 9am - 1pm when Vets Now take over.

A team dedicated to continuous professional development

Our highly dedicated team consists of 9 experienced Veterinary Surgeons and 1 2nd year graduate who are supported by an excellent team of Registered Veterinary Nurses, Trainee Nurses, and our fantastic Support team. Our talented Vet team include an RCVS recognised Advanced Practitioner in general small animal surgery, certificate holders in small animal medicine and endoscopy, a Vet who practices acupuncture and has a keen interest in animal behaviour and a Vet with a PHD in nematodes. In addition, one of our Vets is currently doing a certificate in diagnostic imaging. Our Head Nurse has a CertVN ECC alongside certificates in analgesia and anaesthesia. Regardless of where you are in your career, our dedicated and resourceful team will provide all the support and development you need and want, don’t take our word for it here’s what the team have to say.

“I’ve always had a keen interest in surgery so after qualifying as an RVN in 2019, I left Martin and Carr to work as a surgical nurse in a large referral clinic. I soon realised that what I’d left behind was a progressive practice that were keen to teach and encourage. I returned in 2020 where I went on to achieve a Certificate of Veterinary Nursing in Emergency & Critical Care (CertVNECC) and a certificate in analgesia and anaesthesia. The staff at Martin and Carr are supportive and caring” - Amy Deakin Head Nurse

“The ethos of the surgery combines traditional care and modern treatments, we are a friendly team who endorse family values within our practice. Our surgical and medical knowledge is far superior to most general practice and we are keen to teach the new generation of vet students. If you want to learn and progress, this is the practice for you!” - Amy Baldwin Clinical Director

Our practice has been established in Kirkintilloch for over 35 years.

The practice has gradually expanded from a 2 vet to a 7 vet, 4 nurse practice with a total workforce of 17.

Due to an ever increasing number of clients from an ever expanding radius the practice outgrew its original premises at Townhead, Kirkintilloch and after a long search we found the ideal location at Southbank Marina in the heart of Kirkintilloch.

The practice was awarded top prize at the 2015 UK Practice Design Awards earning the practice associate membership of the British Veterinary Hospitals Association and placing it alongside previous winners such as Glasgow University Small Animal Hospital.

Our award-winning new vet centre is two and a half times larger than our previous clinic allowing us to deliver the very best care to the animals and clients of our community.

We care passionately about our community and actively support local charities and organisations.

We provide all the veterinary services for the only Cats Protection adoption centre in Scotland, treating several hundred homeless cats annually. Our vets give educational talks to local schools and nurseries and encourage and mentor the many vet students who engage in work experience with is as part of their training.

We are not a corporate practice and we do not operate to targets controlled by a larger company and we do not believe in gimmicks.

We work hard to develop a trusting relationship with our clients. Our veterinary team believe in treating every patient and client as an individual, providing treatment tailored specifically to their own requirements.
