Tern Vets are looking for a dedicated Farm Veterinary Surgeon to join our team.

Our diverse caseload ranges from large dairy herds to smallholders, providing a unique and engaging work environment. Your day-to-day duties will involve visiting farms, treating sick animals, and collaborating with farmers to promote long-term animal health.

We are seeking a proactive individual who excels in communication and teamwork. You will play a crucial role in addressing immediate health concerns and educating farmers on preventative care strategies. This role is about more than resolving problems, it is about building strong relationships with farmers and contributing to the overall success of their enterprises.

If you are passionate about veterinary medicine and enjoy working closely with the farming community, this is the perfect opportunity for you. Help us ensure the health of animals and support farmers in maintaining thriving, successful farms.

Rota patterns that work for you

At Tern Vets, we acknowledge life's unpredictability and strive to offer the flexibility necessary for you to excel in your role while managing personal commitments. Join our team in a work environment that priorities your well-being, whether it was full-time, part-time, or flexible working hours. We believe in empowering our team members to achieve success on their terms.

About our great practice

We are a practice who pride ourselves in building relationships with the local community, providing an outstanding clinical service and creating a friendly supportive working environment.

We also have a large number of beef and sheep clients as well as an increasing number of smallholders.

We are a predominantly a dairy practice utilising all the usual software and equipment including Interherd, Total Vet, Easiscan, EEJ, a full in-house lab (culture, microscopy, and biochemistry) to provide a bespoke, professional service to our progressive and friendly farm clients.

We are a small, supportive farm practice and benefit from the support of IVC Farm Vet Network. We have a good relationship with other local practices to help keep Out of Hours Work manageable. We employ full time TB testers (Veterinary and non-veterinary) to ensure our Vets can enjoy the diversity of farm practice and develop expertise alongside specific clinical interests with further study/ qualifications encouraged and supported.

Based on the Shropshire / Cheshire/ Staffordshire border we are also in a beautiful rural location with easy access to the M6 and the Hills of North Wales.

The Tern Veterinary Group, has been based in Stafford Street, Market Drayton since the early twentieth century. At first the practice was based in the small office facing Stafford Street with a farrier and stables further up the yard.

In 2000 the present partners opened a brand new building designed to cater for large and small animal clients. At the same time the branch surgery at Newport was opened to cater for our growing clientele in the area.

The surgery is located on the Wynnstay site on Audley Avenue Industrial Estate.

From the outset we have sought to provide the best care for both our large and small animal clients alike. To achieve this end, we are constantly updating our facilities and equipment to ensure that the level of care provided is of the highest standard for all animals.
