Are you a passionate and experienced vet looking for a leadership role where you can make a real difference?

Our wonderful Clinical Director, Rebecca, is already a fantastic mum to her son, Finlay, and now she's about to embark on an even bigger adventure – welcoming twins! To create a lasting leadership partnership and support her during and beyond this special time, we're looking for a permanent Co-Clinical Director to join our team and share the leadership responsibilities with Rebecca. Whether you're a seasoned pro or ready to take your first steps into a leadership role, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. We understand work-life balance is crucial, so we offer a highly flexible rota. Whether you prefer full-time or part-time hours, we can tailor a schedule that works for you. Plus, some management aspects of the role can be completed remotely, allowing you to manage other commitments with ease.

We're a practice that thrives on collaboration, and our team is our greatest asset. That's why we're looking for a compassionate leader with a passion for mentoring to work with Rebecca to foster a supportive environment where everyone feels valued and empowered to learn and grow. Rebecca says, “I love this job because of the team. They’re a brilliant group of people who are so enthusiastic and work hard. It’s a real team effort. We all work together, and everyone shares their ideas. I genuinely enjoy coming to work to spend time with my friends.”

You'll have the freedom to put your own stamp on everything from clinical work to business strategy, contributing your expertise and fresh ideas to keep our clinic thriving while ensuring exceptional care for our patients. While you’ll play a vital role in driving the practice forward, you won't be going it alone and will have a fantastic support system. Practice Manager Saija is responsible for the non-clinical management aspects of the practice, and Head Nurse Emma handles the RCVS Practice Standards and is also our Radiation Protection Supervisor. Additional training and development is also available from the VetPartners Leadership Programmes, and our area manager is always available to offer guidance.

Elands Veterinary Clinic

About us

What makes Elands Veterinary Clinic so special? In a nutshell, it’s the team. It’s the first thing that EMS students and visiting reps comment on when they spend time with us. Our clients notice as well; these are just a few recent examples of their lovely feedback.

•  Always very professional and caring. Amazing Team. Please keep doing what you are doing 😊 been a client for over 30 years—always great care and service. Thank you!

•  Great, friendly team! You put me at ease with any worries about my pet.

•  No need to improve. Very kind and professional

We’re also very lucky to have unusual but stunning modern premises. Our five-vet small animal practice in Sevenoaks is a beautifully converted church. We've created a three-storey clinic with separate cat and dog facilities, on-site training facilities, two theatres, and a state-of-the-art in-house lab supported by Zoetis Imagyst technology.

We were the practice that pioneered laparoscopic bitch spays, and we offer them as standard, as well as laparoscopic cat spays, cryptorchid castrates, and liver biopsies. We take referrals from local practices, and our 2-port technique means we can offer this service to patients from 1.5 to 75kg, a much bigger scope than most practices.

Our team

Rebecca has a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (Small Animal Medicine), and although she enjoys imaging, she would happily spend all day in surgery (if we let her!). She is also our Vet GDP Advisor and has supported Natasha, our brilliant new grad who joined us in September 2023 and has hit the ground running, getting stuck into all aspects of veterinary work. She has developed a fondness for dentistry. Iona first visited us as a student before graduating from the RVC in 2019. She gained experience working in both mixed and small animal practices before returning home to Sevenoaks in 2022 to join us. Iona is an incredible vet and has a particular interest in medicine. Charlotte graduated from Sydney University in 2006, and she spent 11 years working in Sydney, where she undertook further study in clinical oncology before joining us in 2021.

We have a long-standing, experienced nursing team of 5 RVNs and 1 SVN led by Head Nurse Emma, who has been with Elands since 2005. Our nurses are fantastic, taking on all Schedule 3 procedures and running extensive nurse clinics.

Our fantastic client care team keeps things running smoothly, but they're also the friendly faces that make everyone feel right at home. They're always up for a laugh, and our clients love popping in for a chat. Saija, our incredible Practice Manager, takes care of the whole team, ensuring everyone feels happy and supported.

Our team is further strengthened by peripatetic surgeons specialising in orthopaedics and ophthalmology. This allows us to keep our more complex cases in-house without the need for external referrals.

Elands Veterinary Clinic

What does our team love about working at Elands?

“The reasons I enjoy working at Elands are that I feel valued as a person, and I am encouraged to pursue my interests. I have clinical freedom within a supportive environment. We have fantastic collaboration between the team, and I always leave work with a smile on my face.” Iona MRCVS

“Having recently started working with the team I have been absolutely blown away with how supportive, kind and knowledgeable they are. Everyone has made me feel welcome, and I am so proud to work in a practice with such a high level of skill and knowledge. I have recently returned to work after having a baby, and the level of flexibility and support during my transition back into work has been so appreciated. I hope I remain a part of the team for many years. The patients receive such a high level of care, which is an integral part of what makes Elands such an enjoyable and rewarding place to work.” Chrissie RVN

“I’ve been here nearly 10 years, and honestly, I come to work for the social side. And actually, when I go on holiday, I miss everyone, not necessarily working, just the team!” Erica Deputy Head Nurse RVN

“The free massages sold it to me.😊 Definitely my kind of workplace!” Ellen RVN

“I have been at Elands since graduating, and I love the team. Also, I have been able to learn so much and progress in my career. I wouldn’t want to work anywhere else.” Laura Deputy Head Nurse RVN

“I really like the team, and I actually enjoy coming to work! We all like a good jolly too and socialise outside work. And, of course, the fact that Elands have supported me in my studies to become a veterinary nurse.” Nat SVN

The rota

We are very flexible with the rota, so whether you’re looking for full or part-time hours or have other commitments to work around, we’re happy to chat about all options available, from a 2-day to a 4-day week. For some management aspects of the role, there is also the possibility of working from home. Our full-time vets work a 4-day (8.30 am – 7 pm), with a 1:4 share of the Saturday mornings (8.30 am – 1.30 pm). You will get a half day off in lieu of the Saturday morning, and as our evening consults finish at 6 pm, there is plenty of time to catch up on admin or phone calls and leave on time. Our out-of-hours work is outsourced to a local hospital, which also looks after our inpatients, so your evenings, Sundays, and bank holidays are free to enjoy.

Elands Veterinary Clinic

Outside of work

We love to unwind and have fun, so we’re always up to something outside of work, from dog walks and horse riding to nights at the local pub and our annual bake-off get-togethers, where we all bring our best homemade treats to sample as we enjoy the show. Our Christmas parties include our mock awards ceremony, and our recent summer celebrations saw us close the practice for a unique (and surprisingly peaceful!) catered cream tea at the cemetery – trust us, it really was lovely! The Sevenoaks community has embraced us, and we have been hosting the dog show for the Otford Village Fete for many years. It’s always a blast and a great opportunity to catch up with everyone.

Sevenoaks is an area of outstanding natural beauty, with stunning countryside and rolling hills perfect for exploring walks and outdoor adventures. Plus, you can enjoy the best of both worlds with excellent transport links and only a 30-minute train journey to central London.

Company

At Elands Veterinary Clinic our patients always come first – and every individual is treated as if he or she were part of our own family.

Elands is not just any veterinary clinic. We are a veterinary clinic with a passion for first class care – and that extends to our clients as well as our patients.

Elands Veterinary Clinic, near Sevenoaks in Kent, offers first opinion care for all domestic pets including dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, tortoises, birds including chickens and exotic species. Since January 1987, Elands Veterinary Clinic near Sevenoaks in Kent, has been offering a high quality, caring and professional service to the people and pets in the local community.

Plans to build a new roundabout at the corner of Station Road at the site of the old surgery, prompted Practice Principal Philip Lhermette to search for a new site. The relocation offered Philip the opportunity to expand his busy, successful first opinion and referral veterinary practice. After 23 years, in the Spring of 2010, we relocated to new premises at St John’s Church.

This beautiful old building has been converted into a three storey modern “state of the art” veterinary clinic for the benefit of clients and patients, retaining many of the old features and original character including the beautiful stained glass windows in the waiting room and operating theatre.

The new clinic has an additional consulting room for nurse consultations and also an additional operating theatre for the minimally invasive surgery (more commonly known as keyhole surgery), which is available at the practice.

The practice now has separate kennels and cattery wards for post operative care and an isolation kennels for infectious cases. Other facilities such as the brand new digital x-ray machine, ultrasound scanning facilities, oxygen chamber and fully equipped in-house laboratory allow patients to be treated promptly, minimising pain and distress. Blood and urine samples are analysed in-house and results can therefore usually be reported to pet owners the same day.

Fully qualified nurses continue to live on site to provide round the clock care for in-patients whenever necessary. We were the first practice in the UK to offer bitch spays via keyhole surgery, which ensures less trauma and pain and a quicker recovery! Philip is a lecturer in endoscopy and endosurgery at the University of Nottingham Veterinary School and, as he trains vets throughout the UK and abroad in these techniques, the new practice has on site training facilities. Due to his expertise and the fact that the practice has specialised surgical equipment, Philip takes referrals for ultrasonography and laser surgery as well keyhole surgery from other veterinary practices across the UK. Rather than have to travel, these specialist services are available to our clients whose pets can benefit from our expertise.

In the summer of 2010, Elands expanded further and, for the convenience of our many clients who live in the village, we opened a branch surgery in Kemsing. The branch is fully equipped for all consultations and for the hospitalisation of day patients. It has a separate operating theatre so surgery can be carried out on site avoiding the need for patients to have to travel to the main clinic.
