Full time Vet Surgeon role, Flexible hours, no OOH, Salary from £45K, Darlington Vets4Pets

Are you a Vet looking for a role that can be flexible around your home life, maybe you are family focused and we can work around you? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you at Darlington Vets4Pets.

Darlington Vets4Pets is located on the outskirts of Darlington town centre, 1 mile from the train station and under 10 minutes from the A1 which makes is suitable for those commuting from further afield. Darlington is under half an hour from Middlesbrough and an hour from Whitby on the coast for the perfect day off adventure.

Practice owner Leigh has over 30 years’ experience in the Veterinary world as a Veterinary Nurse and she is supported by a team of 4 Vets, 6 additional RVN’s, 2 SVN’s, 6 Receptionists and 1 Practice Manager. Lead Vet Amy has a special interest in ultrasonography, many of our vets and nurses hold additional certificates, and we are willing to support any interests you may bring to our team. We have 15-minute consults, with 30- minutes allocated where needed and dedicated admin time put aside to do paperwork outside of consults to allow our vets appropriate time to work up their cases. Monthly vet clinical meetings give the opportunity to discuss cases, review protocols and possible new products.

Learning and development is really important to us and we hold regular 1:1’s to support and encourage each individuals team members progression. We also hold a subscription to Vetlexicon and we have good relationships with nearby referral practices who are very supportive should we need advice on cases. In addition, our nurses also do their own consults and straight forward discharges, along with some other procedures such as blood sampling, radiography, I/V placement, and post op checks to help take the pressure of the Vets in practice.

We also encourage team bonding and arrange events as a team with the practice funding them creating a really friendly atmosphere at work.

Inside the practice itself, we have 4 consult rooms as well as high quality imaging modalities including dental x-ray. Our practice also benefits from natural lighting and due to the spacious nature of the practice there is also a large colleague area which has been recently refurbished and an outside balcony, which supports our colleague’s wellbeing at work.

We offer flexibility in both terms of clinical preference and working hours. We guarantee at least one surgical day a week but can also accommodate consult only or surgically biased roles. This is a full-time role, and can offer flexibility in when these hours are worked. We are ideally looking for a Vet who has some prior experience working in practice and feels confident with both the medical and surgical side of the role. You will join our 1 in 5 Saturday rota (mornings only 8am - 12pm), there is no OOH and we are closed on a Sunday and Bank Holidays.

We offer a salary starting from 45K FTE depending on your level of experience and an excellent benefits package including but not limited to:
  • RCVS/VDS and BVA Fees paid.
  • A generous CPD allowance and certificates fully funded, with travel and accommodation also paid.
  • Private medical insurance
  • A contributory pension scheme along with companywide discounts.
  • Relocation allowance to be discussed at interview.
  • Company discounts and access to our Reward Hub giving discounts across a range of high-street retailers.

If this sounds like the role and team you are looking for, then we'd love to hear from you. Please contact our practice owner Leigh Ashman

Location: DL1 5NT

Pets just see people. They aren’t biased and they don’t discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves so even if your skills and experience don’t perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!
