Find a place to progress with The Beeches Veterinary Centre

Here at Beeches Veterinary Centre, we are open to our new Veterinary Surgeon working full-time or part-time and we are also open to a Veterinary Surgeon or a Senior Veterinary Surgeon, depending on what stage you’re at in your career.

We strive to offer our Vets versatility with the daily workload including a variety of first opinion consultations and operations. We aim to allocate caseload around personal interests to allow for certificates and additional CPD to be well supported.

To provide some insights into our current working patterns, our full-time Vets can work across either 4 or 5 days and our part-time Vets can work across 2 or 3 days. The shifts can be flexible depending on your requirements and include 1:4 Saturday mornings (9am-2pm). There are no out-of-hours or Sunday working expected.
State-of-the-art equipment and a supportive team
The Beeches is a local community Vets based in Melksham, a short distance from Bath and the lovely Cotswold/Wiltshire area. We have all the general equipment to support gold standard work such as:

  • An internal lab which includes Idexx laboratory machines.
  • X-ray room which includes digital x-ray, ultrasound machine and endoscopes.
  • Dental x-ray machine
  • Separate dirty and clean ops room which includes multiparameter and ECG machine.
  • Separate dog, cat, and isolation wards in the practice.
  • A private ambulance which is available for home visits.

We have an experienced team in practice which includes a Practice Director, 2 Veterinary Surgeons, 6 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 2 Student Nurses, one soon to qualify! and a brilliant Support Team. Our nurses have undertaken certificates including CertECC ISFM DipFN and soon to be NCert AnBehn, all while at The Beeches Veterinary Centre. We are always happy to support any personal interest through tailored CPD or a certificate.

Our experienced nurses perform routine nurse consultations including second vaccinations, x-rays along with dental scale and polishes, giving you time to work up your cases and reduce that extra pressure which is commonly found within the veterinary industry.

While on surgery shifts, we make sure there are enough nurses to support the smooth running of your day, this includes your ops nurse who will work closely alongside you monitoring anaesthetics. An ops support nurse is on hand to support the ops nurse in setting up for the day, getting everything ready for the next procedure, making a smooth transition from patient to patient. And a ward nurse is dedicated to recovering all patients. By having enough nurses who are fully utilised, they help to make sure your day runs smoothly, and you achieve that much-needed and earned break!

We offer 15-minute consultations and 30 minutes for more complex cases that require extra time and support.

We have rolling monthly meetings across all teams, to discuss cases and any change that needs to be implemented, ensuring communication is at the highest standard.  As a practice, we listen to everyone’s ideas as we understand the importance of feeling valued and getting job satisfaction from your role.

Are you the perfect fit?

We are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon, ideally with a keen interest in surgery, but more importantly a Vet who is seeking out a long-standing place to develop and be a part of a truly excellent team.
