Medivet Goldthorpe has an opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to join this talented team.  

It is a compact practice which values client relationships and pet bonds at its core. The practice consists of one consult room, a small kennels area, and a reception area, perfect to enable the work up of first opinion cases.

We work closely with our main 24-Hour hospital in Dearne Valley, cases requiring further diagnostics or hospitalisation are referred here, which is an easy 5 minute drive away, where it is possible to either work up cases yourself or work as part of the Thirsk team to provide the best care possible.

We can offer a great deal of flexibility, as we know just how important your work life balance is. You may want to discuss this being full time or part time opportunity, but we are open to discussing the hours that suit you.

Role accountabilities

  • Perform a wide range of consults
  • Collaborate with the team to develop treatment plans
  • Utilise diagnostic laboratory, imaging and ultrasound testing where required.
  • Prescribe medication.
  • Promote preventative care by advocating and administering routine vaccinations and immunisations.
  • Educate clients on positive lifestyle choices and preventative car
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to members of the support team.
  • Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statutes, policies & procedures.
  • Maintain patients’ medical records.

Skills and experience

  • Qualified MRCVS
  • 1 years’ experience in a small animal practice
  • Competent in clinical examination
  • Competent in working sole charge or as part of the wider team Consult only
