Veterinary Surgeon
Wirral Vets: Upton Veterinary Clinic, Liverpool
Up to £75,000 DOE, up to £5,000 Welcome Bonus, up to £5,000 Relocation, certificate support for those that require it, plus sponsorship for all international candidates that require it

The new leadership team within Wirral are keen to accept applications for a Veterinary Surgeon to join them! We can offer you the opportunity to build a caseload that suits your clinical interests. We have a range of demographics forming our growing client base, with many insured clients or just those wanting the best for their pets, allowing comprehensive medical workups and extensive soft tissue & orthopaedic surgeries. We also work closely with a local RSPCA and undertake a significant volume of work, primarily on cats, as well as 'case animals' for RSPCA inspectors.

Work-life balance that works for you

Our flexible approach to rota patterns and working hours truly tips the scale of your work-life balance. We know that everyone has demands and priorities outside of their career and we want to make it brilliantly easy for you to strike the right balance. A typical full-time role would involve working 40 hours per week, along with 1:5 Saturdays (09:00 – 17:00). However, as mentioned above we can offer flexibility to create a role that works around your lifestyle. Ideally, we’re looking for a candidate to work between our Upton and Seaview sites. However, we can accommodate for candidates to be based at one site exclusively if preferred.

A wider network of support

You will be joining our excellent team of Vets, Nurses and Support staff. Our team are supportive and you will have all the coaching and mentoring you need. We are a progressive practice that never sits still! We actively encourage our staff to pursue their own clinical interests. We’re lucky to be a part of a wider network of local IVC practices that can offer a wide range of support and services. This wider network will offer you the support of extremely capable and experienced vets, this includes a range of certificate holders in surgery, dermatology, medicine, imaging and ophthalmology.

Here’s what the team have to say

“I started working at Wirral Vets as a new graduate 7 years ago and I've been here so long that I'm now in the position of lead vet! I really appreciate my supportive team of nurses, the good number of surgical cases and also the work we do with local charities. We are a close-knit team who really support one another and try to enjoy our days at work as much as we can. We are always striving to better ourselves and the practice and we look forward to welcoming new team members who share the same team spirit and work ethic.” – Katherine, Senior Vet

We have a comprehensive range of toys including our own In-house lab (including Idexx Lasercyte Catalyst & Sedivue; Imagyst AI cytology reader) DR digital x-ray, dental x-ray, Doppler ultrasound, multiparameter anaesthetic monitors plus an extensive range of soft tissue and orthopaedic equipment. Separate cat and dog kennelling. Upstairs we have a large staff room complete with sofa and Nespresso machine, CD and PM offices, store, laboratory, isolation and laundry rooms.
