Job Details

Are you an experienced RVN looking for career progression at a practice where you can truly make your mark and where we value laughter and support. How about working a 4-day week with no OOHs and an amazing, supportive team in a practice where you can start your day with a workout in our on-site gym? Oh, and your dog is welcome, too!

The Vet Station Molesey is a growing independent small animal first opinion and referral practice in the heart of East Molesey. Our practice is as unique as our fantastic team. Set up in the old Molesey Fire Station, we love providing the highest standards of care to our patients in our modern, purpose-built facilities. We have grown quickly since we opened our doors in 2021, and we now offer referrals for orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, laparoscopy and imaging alongside our GP services.

As owner and lead vet Vanessa says, “When the idea came into my head that this was something I could do, I never imagined just how far and wide our net would spread. The number of beloved pets we have been able to help, from routine appointments to life-saving and life-changing operations, has been great and far exceeded expectations. Being a vet is my privilege, and since the age of five, I knew it was what I wanted to do. On the tough days, I get to sit in kennels and get a cwtch from the patients, and everything is worth it. The way the amazing people of Molesey and the local businesses have welcomed and supported us is amazing. What can I say about our fantastic team? I never imagined a better, more skilful and kind bunch of people I could spend my working days with. The Vet Station is lucky to have you.”

The Team

We are a lovely bunch that genuinely enjoys working together, supporting each other and, most importantly, having a laugh together! Whether meeting up for an early morning gym session at the practice in-house gym, going for a dog walk, meals out or a night to remember in Soho, we always have fun and make memories. But don’t just take our word for it; here’s what some of the team say about us:

“The Vet Station is energetic and lovely with a great variety of cases; we see everything. We work so well as a team and are very supportive of each other. The team bonds so well, and we laugh inside and outside of the clinic. I love working here!” Grace, Senior RVN

“I love working at the Vet Station because the atmosphere is chilled, no one is stereotyped, and I feel welcomed and supported. I love the four-day week, plus Vanessa is always flexible when we need time off or have an appointment to attend. There is always someone to help me, and it feels like a family here.” Brenna, SVN

“Working at the Vet Station is incredibly rewarding. I have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of animals and their owners every day, working alongside a dedicated team of vets and nurses in a dynamic and supportive environment. It's the most fantastic place to work.” Kate, Head Receptionist

There is plenty of experience within our clinical team. Grace has a keen interest in medical and emergency nursing and exotics. She has an emergency and critical care certificate and is a clinical coach supporting our SVN Brenna. Calum, our anaesthetist RVN, has worked in both emergency and charity medicine and has a certificate in anaesthesia, critical patient care and perioperative analgesia, which he puts to good use working with our referral cases.

Vanessa has certificates in orthopaedics and diagnostic imaging. You might have even seen her on Channel 4’s programme The Dog Fixers, working with disabled animal charity and sanctuary Broken Biscuits. Vanessa has been working with the charity for many years now, and they will happily make the journey from Lincoln to Molesey for her expert care. Gillian has over twenty years of experience under her belt and has worked all over the world. Eleanor has a particular interest in exotics and medicine.

We also have our veterinary physiotherapist Lucy, who has a special interest in recovery from neurological disease, injuries and rehabilitation of animals with mobility difficulties.

Our Director, Bellini 🐾is the inspiration behind The Vet Station. She's over the moon about our amazing team, which means she can kick back and relax these days. Every now and then, she makes the rounds to make sure we're meeting her high standards and, of course, to collect some treats from our fabulous receptionist Kate and take over the most popular doorways. That's just her way of telling us we're doing great!

The Role

We are looking for an experienced RVN to join us and lead our nursing team. This really is an opportunity to put your own stamp on things. You will be in charge of running the day-to-day operations of our general practice services, supporting the development of our SVNs as a clinical coach, and helping guide the direction of the practice. We value our nurses and believe in nurturing them to develop their skills, follow their interests, and progress. From nurse clinics to inpatient care and anaesthetic monitoring to performing Schedule 3 procedures, we want you to be able to use all your skills and enjoy nursing the way it should be. Want to start a certificate? No problem. We’re here to help you achieve your goals and have an interesting and varied caseload, including lots of exotics. We would happily support a certificate in this or any area of interest.

Our nurses work a 4-day week (8 am – 6.30 pm) with a fixed day off and just 1:3 Saturday mornings only (9 am – 1 pm). We can be flexible with the rota, so if you would prefer to work 5 shorter days or have other commitments to work around, we’re happy to chat about the options available. Our out-of-hours are outsourced, so there are no Sundays or bank holidays.
