Kerr Veterinary Group

About Us

We are small, independent, and family-owned practice established in 1988. Our practice is equipped in digital x-ray, ultrasound machine, BP Doppler machine, biochemistry and haematology analyser, dental unit and microscope and faecal testing kit. We are currently working in the team of two full-time veterinary surgeons, three part-time and two student nurses and help from a locum registered veterinary nurse. We take pride in working together, discussing cases, and working as a team to crack more difficult ones that we stumble on. Owen is an owner of Kerr Vet Group that enjoys both internal medicine (including often tricky conditions of endocrine system) and soft tissue surgery, great with x-ray interpretation. Cath excels in both internal medicine and with more complex soft tissue surgeries and some orthopaedic surgical cases, great with x-ray and ultrasound. Arletta also enjoys working between internal medicine and soft tissue surgery but also her big focus is on clinical pathology and microscopic findings and more complex ultrasound scans. In addition, we also work with Karolina and Julia that their main focus is internal medicine. We all come from different backgrounds and have different experiences and we take pride in being more of an ensemble that at the end of the day makes sure that together we deliver excellent care of our patients.

We are a nurse training practice and have amazing student nurses that been with us to start with as ACAs and now they are on the way to becoming RVNs. And we are so proud of the work they are putting in their education!

We work between two branches: main branch in Bridge of weir where we treat more complex cases, do all diagnostics and surgeries. Second branch is in Johnstone where we are providing basic care and if required patients can be transferred to our main branch. We are located in the beautiful and rural area of Bridge of weir, with few walking pathways to enjoy in spare time.

The practice was established in 1988 by Ian Kerr, the current managing partner, and has grown and expanded gradually to its current size. We have 2 branches, the main surgery in the village of Bridge of Weir, which offers basic kennelling for in patients and hospitalisation cases and our surgical/diagnostic facilities, and a branch in the nearby town of Johnstone, which is a consulting room/dispensary only.  We serve many of the surrounding towns and villages, and aim to provide a good standard of primary first opinion care for our clients, while remaining a relatively cost effective service.
