This position, available due to relocation, offers an excellent opportunity to develop you career in a growing business with a highly experienced Partner who’s happy to reward you for your expertise in the nursing field.

‘I am new to Vets for Pets Wakefield, having only been here for 5 months, and qualified for a total of 8 months. The team is really friendly and welcoming! I feel included and my opinions are valued in the practice. Learning and development is encouraged and supported by the JVP in all aspects of the job, be it surgery or dispensing. Everyone has been very patient as I adapt to my new role! We also all take turns to bring in ‘Friday treats’ for everyone to share, which is something everyone looks forward to after a busy week! ’ - Rachel Fuller RVN

You will be joining an experienced nursing team, all of whom have been supported throughout their careers by our JVP Steven to progress and develop in their careers and skillset. Our head RVN originally joined us as an SVN, RVN Jess joined us as a VCA and two of the current nursing team have just completed the Improve Schedule 3 course, fully funded by the practice. We’re generous with our CPD offering so, if you too want to pursue a post graduate qualification or certificate, we’re happy to help support that.

' I began my journey at Wakefield Vets for pets as a Student Veterinary Nurse back in 2015/16 and after qualifying in 2019 have gone on to progress further in my career and become Head nurse with the support of my team. As RVNs we are given the freedom and encouragement to fully utilise our array of skills in order to provide the best care to our patients. We are able to build up a rapport with our clients giving our services that personal touch. I feel like I have flourished within my new role here at Vets4pets and am very appreciative of the opportunities this team and practice has given me so far' . - Jess Kellett, Head RVN.

This position is full time, 37 hours per week including 1 in 3 Saturday mornings, with no out of hours or late nights. Our late shift finishes at 6:30pm max. twice a week, unless of course late finishes suit you, and then we could do more. We would love to find a team focused; care driven RVN who shares in our ethos of supporting each other, providing an excellent service to our bonded client base and most importantly prides themselves on providing the best standard of clinical care for each patient.
Our purpose-built standalone surgery (take a look at our Google tour here) complete with high quality facilities and equipment, including separate dog and cat kennels, is situated in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

Only 20 minutes from Leeds and with the Yorkshire Dales on your doorstep, we have the bright lights of the city, great local amenities and easy access to the open spaces and beaches of the Yorkshire countryside. Being right on the junction of the M1 and M62 it is an ideal base to explore the rest of the country by car and is also only 2 hours on the main train line to London and 3.5 hours to Edinburgh. So, there’s plenty to discover and we make sure you have the work/life balance to enjoy it.

As standard we offer all the benefits you would expect from a major employer (pension, healthcare, paid memberships, competitive salary etc.) plus a few more, such as excellent career progression, exclusive lifestyle and shopping discounts (up to 30% off at Pets at Home).

If you share our passion for delivering outstanding pet healthcare, exceptional customer service and would like to join our team, then we would love to hear from you.

Our diversity and inclusion vision is that everyone is welcome and feels part of our group. So, if you think you’re a good match to what we are looking for, and you share our belief that together ‘we’re better with pets’, we’re waiting to hear from you.

Locally owned practices with a world of support

At Vets for Pets we’re a network of practices that are owned and managed by the practice owners that run them. Because they’re locally owned, each practice has the freedom to serve patients and clients the way it thinks is best.

But crucially, being locally-owned also means enjoying a truly team-spirited atmosphere. We want all our colleagues to build lasting relationships with practice owners and team members as well as patients and clients.

And because we’re also part of a wider group, you’ll get all the support you need when you need it. That means state-of-the-art facilities, high quality CPD, financial stability and a real sense of job security.

With our framework, we’ve made it simpler and easier for you to help patients and clients live happier, healthier lives together. It’s about making the most of your expertise and bringing this to life in practise while being safe in the knowledge that you’re looked after too. Simply put, we offer locally owned practices with a world of support.

Flexibility & Wellbeing
You tell us which hours you want to work, and we’ll do everything we can to make it happen. With us, you could enjoy a better work-life balance where flexibility and wellbeing come first.

Training & Development
We offer great training programmes, plus fully funded CPD, leadership courses and access to our group’s learning curriculum. We’ll also support you if you’re interested in owning a practice. With our wealth of resources, it’s easy to build your skills and develop your career.

Local Practices
With us, no two practices are the same. We’re deeply rooted in our local communities and we want you to really get to know your patients and clients locally.

Being part of the Pets At Home Group
Being part of Vets for Pets means you’ll be part of our network of locally owned practices. Our practices are located across the country and are owned and run by our Joint Venture Partners (JVPs). Our Joint Venture Partnership model is unique and gives everyone the best of both worlds. Working within one of our practices you’ll get to work with the JVP who has the clinical freedom and autonomy to do things their own way.

As we’re part of a large respected organisation you’ll also enjoy the benefits of being part of a wider PLC Group. This means we can give you greater stability and job security during these uncertain times and beyond.

What’s more, we’ve worked hard to make sure everyone in our group can take part in a fun, friendly, professional and inclusive culture that allows you to bring your whole self to work and be at your very best.
