We are looking for an equine vet to join our modern, independent practice, Dyffryn Tywi Equine Clinic based in beautiful Carmarthenshire, West Wales. You might recognise us from our time on the BBC Wales show, Only Foals and Horses!
We are a friendly close-knit team. We are not a massive practice, but we deliver a very personal service.
We’re all horse owners ourselves and part of our ethos is that we treat our clients horses as if they are our own.
Our purpose-built facilities enable us to undertake all routine and emergency equine work - from routine vaccinations, lameness assessments, castrations, stud work, right up to emergency surgery.
On-site we have a full equipped clinic, with a inpatient facilitates for 9 horses. We also have a supportive team of senior vets, experienced RVN, and fantastic support team, on hand to provide support and guidance.
Our vets work a 4 or 5 day week, which involves a mixture of visits and clinic work. We have a very varied caseload, always with the option to refer patients into the clinic if needed.
All non-emergency surgery taking place on a day when Lisa who holds a certificate in equine practice and Philippa are on hand to mentor and provide hands-on assistance so that our vets get the chance to grow and learn. We also benefit from a team of visiting specialists who are more than happy for less experienced vets to scrub in and learn.
If you have a passion for all things equine, and are looking to develop your skills and knowledge, we can provide the supportive environment and varied caseload to help you succeed. We also benefit from the experience of visiting specialists who are happy for less experienced vets to get involved and learn.
We fully support career progression so if you’re looking to take on a certificate, we will massively support this. We are open to a new grad who wants to get stuck in and learn or a more experienced vet, we really do have the knowledge and skills to help anyone develop.
Carmarthenshire is a lovely place to live, with stunning countryside stretching from Carmarthen Bay in the south to the western Brecon Beacons and Cambrian Mountains in the north. We are also just off the M4, with Cardiff and Swansea within an hour of us with good rail links.
