Looking for a new challenge somewhere different? The Umm Suqeim Veterinary Centre is a Dubai based Small Animal Hospital providing extensive surgical and medical care for companion animals. Our large 24-hour facility is excellently equipped and is able to provide superior standards of care utilising the latest equipment and technology. We have 9 western qualified vets, qualified nurses, trainee nurses, nursing assistants, cleaners, dedicated reception staff, 2 full time pharmacists and a veterinary physiotherapist learn from the best - you will work with advanced practitioners, certificate holders and diploma nurses in a collaborative environment.

Qualified Veterinary Nurse: -

We are looking for 2 qualified and experienced veterinary nurses (but we would consider enthusiastic newly qualifiers!) for this challenging and varied role. The position involves all facets of in-patient care, critical care, anaesthesia monitoring, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgical nursing, assisting radiography, high dental caseload (incl dental radiography), in house diagnostics (laboratory).  This role would also be an excellent position for a newly qualified nurse, itching to cut their teeth and use the knowledge they have acquired.

About the job

A day in the life of a nurse at our hospital is very varied as you’d expect. You will be rostered for either hospital or surgical shifts.  We tend to do our surgery in the morning and get things done by early afternoon. We also have consulting hours throughout the day. There are many vets and nurses rostered to work at the same time, so you’ll always have the support of your colleagues.

Typical responsibilities will include:

· Inpatient medicine

· Running a plethora of lab tests

· Surgical anaesthesia

· Managing critical care patients

· Dentistry

· Night 24/7 emergency work on a self-nominated basis

· Diagnostic workups including CT (We’ll teach you if you don’t know)

· Liaising with clients and other team members

We do see a lot of emergency cases in this hospital so if you like ECC then this is a role you will love. Don’t be put off though if you need support for these cases. As long as you are willing to learn, we’ll support you in developing these skills.

About you

You ideally will have worked in a busy environment with a good exposure to intensive hospital and surgical cases.  You will possess a hunger to learn and know more about cases, and you have a good grounding in both medical and surgical nursing. Your communication skills are outstanding, and you understand that for teams to thrive you need to be able to give and receive feedback.

You’re a great teammate and are empathetic with your colleagues. Ideally, a good knowledge of medicines and competence in radiology would be also helpful.

Values matter to you and the ones you read below chime with your personal philosophy at work:

You value and nurture those you work with (people and pets).

You consider yourself to be a loyal person and you enjoy working places where you respect and receive respect from those around you.

You set high standards for yourself, and you are willing to be accountable to those standards. (You show up in your work each day)

You love learning – others think you are a learning junkie.

When you get to work, you get the work done. And you prefer to do this with a smile on your face.

In a busy hospital like ours, there is plenty of support, but we’ve noticed that the people who do best here have the following qualities:

  •  They are driven - vet med is their calling.
  •  Effort focused - they get stuck in and are not mentally crippled by risk or errors. They learn.
  •  Empathy - they can connect with and understand their fellow humans!
  •  Capable - they have the basic surgical, medical, and dental skills upon which to build.
  •  Team players - they prioritise the greater good

You’ll absolutely have a sense of adventure and fun. Dubai has much to offer and places to explore and is an expat’s paradise location.

We offer

Excellent time off - our nurses can have up to 8-16 weeks off a year depending on the rotations

Excellent tax-free salary

Medical insurance

Gratuity (end of service bonus)

Other bonuses and allowances (CPD allowance)

We are here to help you ‘up sticks and move’ and the visas, travel arrangements and help with accommodation is all part of our process.  We’ve done it heaps of times in a variety of permutations so can smooth everything out for you! Come and check out what we have to offer. This bustling, rapidly growing, multicultural city has something for everyone, so if you love amazing architecture, sport, travel, shopping or simply the sun, then this could just be the place for you.

Umm Suqeim Veterinary Centre provides the most comprehensive medical and surgical companion animal care. It was opened by Dr. Malcolm Rose in 2014 and his team of dedicated vets. Dr. Malcolm and his wife, Dr. Monique Strange, were the first to open a 24-hour veterinary clinic in the Middle East.

Our services and facilities range from routine preventive care for young, healthy pets, early detection and treatment of disease as your pet ages, and complete medical and surgical care as necessary during their lifetime. We are the only facility open 24 hours in Dubai which means we are fully staffed with vets, nurses and support every day and every night.
