AllPets is a proudly independent small animal practice in stunning North Wales, where you can enjoy your lunch break on the beach! Our main practice in Prestatyn has been fully renovated and we’re really excited about the arrival of our CT scanner later this summer! We also have a refurbished branch clinic in Rhyl. We offer an enhanced first opinion service with visiting specialists in orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery and cardiology, and we’re now looking to expand both our team and the services we can offer in-house.
We have fantastic facilities including laparoscopy, a new ultrasound scanner with cardiac capabilities, dental X-ray and endoscopy. We are in the process of converting one of our 3 theatres into a dedicated dental theatre and have recently invested in new orthopaedic kit. We have separate cat and dog facilities and are an ISFM Silver cat-friendly practice. We also offer our clients a health plan with unlimited routine consultations.
Richard graduated in 2007 and worked in mixed practices before opening AllPets in 2012, starting as a 1 vet practice. We are now a team of 4 vets, supported by an amazing nursing team of 5 RVNs, 1 SVN and 1 ACA and a fantastic admin and reception team.
Richard is our VetGDP advisor and is an Advanced Practitioner with lots of experience in mentoring new and less experienced vets. Eliza has been with us since 2016 and has an interest in cardiology, imaging and medicine. Charlotte enjoys all aspects of veterinary work, especially medicine and Bethan has a special interest in behaviour and surgery. We are a nurse training practice and our nurses get to use all their skills daily from Schedule 3 procedures to taking X-rays, monitoring anaesthetic and running a wide range of nurse clinics.
Whether you’re a new grad looking for a supportive team as you start your career, or an experienced vet looking to follow your interests, we have everything you need to work up your cases to a high standard and we’re always happy to share our knowledge and help each other out. We fully support career development and have the caseload needed to support a vet looking to take on a certificate.
“After joining AllPets 2 years ago, I’ve never looked back – it’s a modern spacious practice, with all the perks of being an independent! Richard listens to our interests and has invested heavily in the practice to help us progress our careers as well as offer greater in-house services to the patients of North Wales. Come and be a part of something great!” Charlotte MRCVS
“Traveling has always been important to me and something I wanted to integrate into my working life and I had concerns that the only option would be locuming. AllPets is the family I’ve been searching for and I didn’t want to give that up. Richard and I sat down and discussed my needs both in the workplace and out: this resulted in 6 weeks off to visit New Zealand and more surgery time to develop my interests (I now perform lap spays!).
I am feeling much more confident about my career longevity and I am really grateful to be in a position where I have career diversification and a better work-life balance. At AllPets there really is a rare opportunity to be part of a rapidly developing practice and a progressive veterinary family!” Beth MRCVS
Our full-time vets work a 4-day week with a set day off, working either an operating shift (8am-6pm) or a consulting shift (9am-7pm). Our out-of-hours are outsourced to Vets Now so there are no OOHs or inpatient on-call for our vets. We all share the 1:5 weekend rota, working Saturday and Sunday mornings only (9am - 1pm) with a day off in lieu of working the weekend. We have dedicated blocks throughout the day to catch up on admin and make phone calls, and we’ll insist you have a proper lunch break when you will have time to walk your dog who is welcome to join you at work. We also have a lovely team facilities , with a separate vets office and also a shower and kitchinette so if you fancy cycling to work or going for a run ,you can make yourself a meal and freshen up!
Our vets work one day a week at the Rhyl branch, which is well equipped with digital X-ray, ultrasound, dental unit and theatre. Depending on your preference, your day can be a mix of surgery and consulting, or consulting only. At Rhyl, you will have the support of an RVN, ACA and a receptionist, and new grads and less experienced vets will have the additional support of an experienced vet and the option to refer cases to the main practice. We would love to increase the services we offer at Rhyl so if you’re looking to take on more responsibility without having to be the boss then we would welcome your enthusiasm and ideas.
We’re a friendly bunch who enjoy getting together socially whether we’re meeting up for a dog walk, catching up over drinks at the local pub or getting festive at our Christmas party.
