Unlock Your Veterinary Career with Vets Now - UK Small Animal Internships 2024

About Vets Now:

As the European leader in Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care, Vets Now is dedicated to nurturing the future of veterinary excellence through every role inside our hospitals. We take pride in our well-established rotating internship program, available at our state-of-the-art facilities in Glasgow. Additionally, we offer discipline-specific internships and EBVS-approved residency programs in Surgery, Internal Medicine, and Emergency & Critical Care.

Join Our Team:

We are excited to invite applications for our Rotating Internship and Discipline Specific Internship Programs, commencing in July 2024. A total of 19 internship positions are available, providing you with the opportunity to excel in your veterinary career:

  • 5x Small Animal Rotating Interns
  • 1x Small Animal Surgical Intern
  • 1x Small Animal Internal Medicine and Oncology Intern
  • 2x Small Animal Emergency & Critical Care Interns

Rotating Internships:

Our Small Animal Rotating Internships are tailored for qualified veterinary surgeons, whether you recently graduated or are looking for more exposure to a referral setting with the goal of furthering your education, this program will give you a solid foundation and understanding of the many services in our hospitals. This 13-month program offers exposure to various disciplines and can serve as a stepping stone towards discipline-specific training. Upon completion, candidates have the option to continue their journey with us in one of our 60+ out-of-hours clinics or two 24/7 emergency and specialty hospitals across the UK. Or even returning to general practice with more confidence and a wider skill set than before.

Rotating Interns will rotate through multiple referral services, have the opportunity to undertake externships, and actively contribute to out-of-hours emergency care. Learning is a vital component, with a diverse induction period and weekly didactic seminars enhancing the clinical experience. Funded continuous professional development opportunities are also available.

Discipline Specific Internships:

Our Discipline Specific Internships are designed for qualified vets eager to expand their expertise in a chosen area. With a focus on Internal Medicine/Oncology, General Surgery, or Emergency and Critical Care, these 12-month programs offer in-depth training and research opportunities. Collaborate with referral teams, participate in subject-focused tutorials, and gain access to our rich in-house teaching resources. Preferably candidates would have completed a rotating internship prior to their start date but this is not essential.

Your Journey Starts Here:

Are you ready for an extraordinary internship experience? To apply, candidates must possess a recognised Veterinary Degree, be or have eligibility to be a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and hold a valid UK veterinary medicine practice license.

Eligible candidates should also have the right to work in the UK and possess the required Visa documents.

Join Vets Now and IVC Evidensia to embark on a rewarding journey towards becoming an exceptional veterinary professional. Your future begins with us.

Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from 55 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and three 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 100,000 small animals every year — and during seasonal holidays, like Christmas and Easter, our highly-skilled staff answer around five queries an hour from worried pet owners. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.

We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our three hospitals — in Glasgow, Manchester and Swindon — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
