The Equine Oasis
We are hoping to find our final Equine Stud Vet to join our established and large team of equine vets!
You would be working out of our RCVS Tier 3 hospital facilities, with the support of RCVS, European and American-boarded specialists in medicine, surgery and stud medicine. An excellent opportunity for excellent clinical exposure in a vibrant Equine-centric environment.
Your Diverse Role
We are wanting to provide the option for either short term (for the 2024 season) or a permanent position starting February 2024. Our working day typically consists of 5 days per week across Monday to Friday. We do have an OOH rota that runs from January 1st to August 31st which is currently 1:4 weekends and 1 night per week
To give you some background to the team you’d be working with, currently we have a wonderful team of 4 Stud Vets, all of which are highly experienced in all aspects of reproductive work. Our team provides thoroughbred breeding services, as well as artificial insemination with chilled and frozen semen, embryo transfer and ovum pick up. Mares are boarded in the hospital, managed at local studs or private yards. The hospital is equipped with intensive care foal units and an in-house laboratory. The successful candidate will need to be motivated, with a go-getter attitude, confident and an excellent communicator.

We are a state of the art, purpose- built, referral hospital who are renowned for providing patients and clients with the best standards of Equine Veterinary health care. We are nestled in a beautiful location in Sussex, offering rolling countryside with masses of beautiful country walks in the area, and the seaside is just 20 miles away. We have great city links being close to Worthing and Brighton and quick and accessible train links to London to change up the scenery when and if needed.
Here at Sussex Equine Hospital we have a total of 27 stables, an isolation block and Repro/Bonescan blocks. We have some excellent equipment, naming a couple, MRI and CT! We excel in our medical workups and treatment and cover both minor and major surgeries, allowing for excellent clinical exposure.

Join forces with our wonderful team, we are made up of 4 Specialist Surgeons, 2 Internal Medicine Specialists, 1 Repro Specialist and 1 Sports Medicine Specialist. A highly skilled team providing you with ample insight into various specialisms, and support should you wish to pursue one. We also have a great team of Nurses, Student Nurses, 1 Nursing Assistant and Grooms. We have excellent support on hand via our 2 Pharmacy Dispensers, 3 Scientific Officers, a Clinic Supervisor, 6 Interns, 1 Resident, 13 Support Staff, 2 Housekeepers and 12 Ambulatory Veterinarians.
We love to get involved in the local community as much as possible and with that in mind, we hold a Bi-Yearly Open Day where we collect donations for a charity as voted by the staff. We also sponsor local events regularly to support local businesses. We have built a wonderful team ethos and culture at Sussex Equine and truly enjoy each other’s company, therefore we have regular staff socials allowing us all to get together outside of the working day.
We are hoping you are passionate, enthusiastic and have some experienced as an MRVCS Equine Stud/Repo Vet. Our new Stud Vet will bring their expertise as an Equine Veterinary Surgeon to the forefront.
