Senior Veterinary Surgeon (Exotics) / Deputy Clinical Director
Ark Veterinary Practice, Killamarsh
Salary up to £75,000 depending on experience, plus welcome bonus up to £5,000 and relocation support up to £5,000, plus amazing benefits

We have an exciting opportunity for a driven ‘Senior Veterinary Surgeon / Deputy Clinical Director’ to join our busy and progressive practice in Killamarsh, Sheffield. Ideally, this would suit an experienced exotic certificate holder or advanced practitioner as we have a large exotic caseload, including first opinion and referral work.

A Varied and Exotic Caseload

There is a varied caseload of both exotic and small animal medical and surgical cases, and duties are split between consulting, operating, workups and inpatient care. Our client base is primarily made up of reptiles, avian and small mammals, in addition to cats and dogs. We also provide occasional care for local wildlife parks. We run 30-minute initial exotic consults and 15-minute follow-ups as standard, to enable us to provide an excellent service to our clients and provide an exceptional standard of care to our patients.

We offer flexible working patterns that flex with you and your lifestyle. Whether you are looking to flex your rota hours to balance the school holidays, fix to navigate the school runs or just looking to strike that balance between home and work-life. We can offer flexibility that actually works for you.

Further details can be found below:
•    No OOHs
•    4-day week, 40 hours across 10-hour days (Monday to Friday)
•    1:7 Saturdays, covering the hours of 8:30am to 3:00pm only

An additional interest in small animal medicine would be desirable. We enjoy a collaborative approach to cases, so you should be happy to take part in clinical case discussions. Exceptional communication skills are essential.

Find a Place to Excel

Ark Veterinary Surgery is a thriving practice located in the South Yorkshire/Derbyshire area. We have all the latest gadgets and equipment available including laparoscopic kit, CO2 laser, extensive in-house laboratory and modern x-ray facilities. Our patients and clients are at the forefront of what we do, and we encourage a bond built on mutual trust and respect. This extends into our team too. We believe that time off should be just that, time away from the job to rest and recharge. We seek to balance our responsibilities to our clients with our own work life balance. All the colleagues have a great sense of humour and a positive mindset, and we have a very well stocked snack drawer!

Find a Phenomenal Team

You would be working alongside an amazing team of people including 10 Vets, 10 RVNs, 1 SVN and 8 receptionists. We are lucky to have a very supportive management team who fully encourage CPD, postgraduate studies and the ability to pursue specific areas of interest. As part of this role, you would be expected to integrate well within the current leadership team, take responsibility for financial targets, provide staff with a point of contact, deal with client enquiries and ensure the efficient daily running of the site. Ability to be confident working independently as sole charge where required and work successfully as part of a wider team.

We are your local, independent Veterinary practice, established more than 45 years. We have fully equipped surgeries in Dronfield and Killamarsh catering for all types of companion animals including exotic species.

We strongly believe that clients and patients value seeing familiar, friendly faces, and so whenever possible we will arrange for your pet to be seen by the same dedicated vet every visit to ensure continuity of care.

We are proud to have been awarded RCVS tier II status as a small animal general practice. Our aim is to provide the highest standard of care for all pets, and their owners, including you in the decision making process at all times.

We are one of the few remaining practices in Sheffield and Chesterfield providing our own out of hours service. This means that in the event of an emergency outside normal surgery hours you are guaranteed to be seen by one of our own vets, with access to your pet’s medical records at the regular practices.

“We treat your pets as if they were our own!”
