Veterinary Surgeon
Wellpets West Country Vet, Clevedon
Salary up to £63,000 depending on experience

Come and join our friendly team! Looking for a confident Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to develop and expand their interests in a sole charge role. Bring your enthusiasm, sense of humour and a love for the job and meet a warm welcome.

Find flexibility and no out-of-hours

We are lucky enough to be well supported by both longstanding staff and keen trainees, with a great nursing team and a wealth of experience. We pride ourselves on running clinics that meet the needs of our local community, with friendly nursing staff taking the lead.

Happy to consider both full (4 days) and part time applications for the role, with a variety of working arrangements across the two North Somerset branches to consider. There is a 1 in 4 Saturday rota, well supported by our local neighbouring friendly OOH service provider. The Saturday clinic is solely consulting and is the only day requiring travel between the two small sole charge branches at Clevedon and Worle. There are no OOH duties, allowing you to enjoy a healthy work life balance, which we positively encourage.

Join our well-equipped site

Our group of practices is spread across both ends of Somerset, but this role would be based at our Clevedon and Worle branches in beautiful North Somerset. We are within easy reach of the vibrant eclectic cities of Bristol and Bath, the coastline, and stunning countryside of the Mendips – plenty to explore and enjoy. Closer to home are the community run cinema, the marine lake for a coldwater dip, and many an orchard - sampling the local range of ciders is a must!

Our small, but perfectly formed and equipped, practices are 20 minutes apart, each nestled in the heart of their respective communities. Positioned opposite the local primary school and on the town square for Thursday’s busy market creates a great local feel.

Our superb nursing team are encouraged to contribute at every level, building great relations with our loyal clients. We have an experienced Senior Vet at each end part time, and an enthusiastic younger Vet that they work alongside- growing our own expertise for the future.

Most mod cons of general practice are already at our disposal, but we have a progressive approach to expanding our kit: idexx haematology and biochemistry, microscopy used daily, brand new ultrasound with doppler, digital xray DR system, dental DR, multiparameter monitors, ophthalmic algerbrush, electrocautery, and a therapeutic laser machine.

Find a world of opportunity

We seek someone with a positive contribution to make, fresh ideas and a collaborative approach to growing the practice, allowing you as a talented vet to enjoy your role to the full. Tea and biscuits are provided for brainstorming ideas! Our motto at Wellpets is “treating pets like family” but we also extend this to treating our colleagues like family.

We are looking for someone who strives for clinical excellence and will continue to deliver the high standard of client care we are known for.  You must be RCVS registered and able to work sole charge. We love what we do, so celebrate that with us – with a regular cuppa!
