The Gatehouse Veterinary Centre are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our team. The role will involve working between our sites in Lavister & Borras. The Borras site is a consulting only branch, this offers a much more relaxed pace. Borras will require some sole charge in addition to consulting (20 minute appointments) and routine surgery at the main branch in Lavister. We enjoy case continuity and actively encourage Vets to work their own cases up. We have a knowledgeable team who are always happy to advise and support. We’re thrilled to be able offer certificate support as well! We’d love to hear from candidates that have an interest in medicine and imaging. We can also offer a caseload for a vet that has an exotics or surgical interest.
Flexible working options
We offer flexible working patterns that flex with you and your lifestyle. Whether you are looking to navigate the school runs or just looking to strike that balance between home and work life. We can offer flexibility that actually works for you. A typical full time role will include working 4 days per week over 40 hours. There’s a shared weekend rota which sits between 1:6 – 1:8 (depending on staff levels). Saturdays are 08:30 – 15:00, Sundays are 10:00 – 15:00. The weekend shifts have no pre booked work. You’ll receive time back in lieu for weekends worked.

Our Vets have years of experience, so there is good support both surgically and medically - all of us are willing to help one another and discuss cases. We support individual needs. Here’s what the team have to say
“Gatehouse is a very supportive practice with a great team of colleagues. Within 6 months of starting at Gatehouse I had started my certificate in small animal surgery and had the time allocated to attend lectures and practicals as needed. Gatehouse have been flexible and supportive with my hours as I have a young family. We have a good mix of medicine and surgical cases and a knowledgeable team who are willing to have clinical discussions when needed.” – Claire, Vet.
